2013 W221 Drain pipe cleaning

Question 2013 W221 Drain pipe cleaning

There are a small draining pipe on both side of the car. They are connected to a car wide tray just under hood rear edge.

Now, in latest STAR magazine there was a story about used W221 available today and the writer emphasized the importance
of cleaning those ducts. According to him failing to do so may lead to electronic problems.

I tried to push a thin steel wire down the pipe, but it hit something and stopped at 1 ft deep.
Can not see there. Is there a tight curve of some kind or a barrier or is it so clogged?

Does anybody have experienced the same?

I would be be really thankful of good advise.

It's been discussed in other threads on this forum...you might want to check there. But yes, good to do to keep water off the electronics.

I think you mean the front windscreen drains - some of the most incompetent engineering known to man

go to a competent DIY shop get the 2 foot long pipe cleaner thing's (like these https://www.ebay.com/itm/156386116859?) open the bonnet - first remove the rain forest and new species growing there - then try and fight the brush in there with some water to wash the crap away

ENJOY - if you ever found the odd engine dip-stick that never fitted back in due to the stupid routing of the tube - you'll be right at home... FYI they exit on to the inner wheel arch liners
