I have a 2009 S550 (W221). The assenger seat suddenly has very limited back movement range. I moved the passenger seat all the way back to place winter mat in front and then all the way forward to place winter mat in back. All the seat functions work but the seat does not move very far back ... and it might be able to move further forward than it used to. Any ideas on how to make it resume it oldrange?

is it a limo - if so did some kid in the back fiddle with get out of my way heathen, I'm the important one
Added note ... when I looked at the rails upon which the seat moves, I saw what appeared to be a large ball bearing that rolled out of reach when I tried to retrieve it. Does anyone have a schamatic of the seat mechanism? Is there a bearing that could have failed. Again, the seat controls still work in all functions but the seat seems to hit a hard stop when going back and does not travel very far back.

check the other side - try and remove with a magnet
Well, the fix was easy ... I did use a small magnet in the claws of a flexible grabber that fit into the inboard track for the seat. I pulled out not just the one ~1/4" ball bearing but also a second one came out, too. The seat (n=1) moved all the way back smoothly. My only remaining question is the source of the two steel ***** ... is there some kind of mechanism under the seat that could be coming apart? The only other option is some accidental spill sometime in the past, maybe even before I got the car in ~2008.
