snap-on tools - utterly useless
snap-on tools - utterly useless
well they can go have a Happy Christmas... what a load of junk - overpriced - today turns out their 8mm deep sockets are utterly useless
Another Glow plug went on my father's Merc tractor - its the same hideous unrefined cement mixer of an engine they offend W221 tractor owner's with ... the M642 3.0 ltr V6 rattle box... Replaced all 6 Glow Plugs at around 90k miles including the control module, using OEM brand Beru. Within 800 miles one of the new ones popped, and now around 20k miles yet later another has popped.
Fortunately within 3 miles of me I have a big multi-brand car place - in stock NGK plug <$20 - packed some tools having checked a video... and toddle round, quick squirt of plusgas to help and then pop on my deep Snap On 8mm 3/8" drive socket - to find it wont go over the electrical bit at the top - looked at the socket and it has a ridge part way in stopping it fitting. Ok that's a pain, get out the deep Snap On 8mm 1/4" drive one I'd brought. Even worse - WTF now what ?
Great I'll have to drive to a tools place and buy some budget junk made by grown ups - that does work. About to jump on the bike, when I went - hang on - didn't that rail of 1/4 drive stuff have some joke brand 5/16" no name rubbish on it - Oh yes - that fits nicely - JOB DONE IN 15 mins (the good news it was #4 one of the easier to reach - glow plug light staying out, fault cleared and went away, jolly good, time for Tea
So the question is what halfwit can't make decent tools in that massive company that's been going for more than 100 years ?

Pic of the 8mm Snap On that wouldn’t fit?
That little ridge is there to keep the nut in place when you're trying to thread it onto a stud or bolt.
Without it, the nut would just go deeper into the socket in some difficult situations.
