Command Center Shutts off and the car too. Battery Light is On. New Battery.

i everyone, new to the group. I have a 2010 Mercedes S550 4 Matic. I bought it at 106347 miles. Before buying it, I took it to two different mechanics to have it checked, and both said the car is in good condition. I drove 1000 miles. The battery light came up. I replaced both the auxiliary and the main battery. Again, the battery light came up. After that, the command center said, while I was driving, "Start the engine, or the command center will shut off in 3 minutes." Then, all the safety features are gone, and the car shuts off, rendering it unable to be driven. Waited for 20 minutes. Jump start. and back to normal. Next day, again the same issue. Did anyone have this problem?

I took it to the mechanic, European car specialist, said, the alternator is the issue. And he talked to the Mercedes dealer service, they said "the car has a special alternator and needs to be ordered from Germany, and the harness must be replaced, too." WTH.

I know I need a 220 amp alternator. But is there any other special alternator thing?

Does anyone have any idea about this?

Thank you.

Pull up voltages. Good battery will be at 12.6 V while sitting and 13.8-14.1 while running.

Should be plenty of forum posts about alternator issues.

Isn’t it the diode bridge or something like that failing in the alternator that can be fixed without replacing the whole thing?

If it were me, I'd start by getting a new alternator. They're only about $250 for a reman at Rock Auto. If it solves it, great, you're done. If not, you'll need a new one sooner or later anyway and that box is now checked. You could spend many hundreds at the dealer in diagnostics before anything is fixed. If you can do it yourself, all the better. Mine was a difficult job for me, but I managed to do it.

Simple voltage test across the battery as it runs will tell you all you need to know.

If it reads 12 volts or lower you already know what needs to be done. This is another task that is much more pleasant done on a hoist.

If you are able to rent time on a hoist I suggest doing that.
