This is the first time I've replaced coolant from a vehicle myself in a while. Based on these pictures, are we worried about the previous coolant's color or consistency? I am unsure of the last time it was changed as I've only had the vehicle for 3 years and put limited miles on it, and I'm not very skilled on diagnosing if something like this suggests any other issues.
allegedly Merc have stopped supplying the dark blue stuff - although BMW still use so its still out there for small jobs like heater valves
the idea is to flush thoroughly and move to the later red gunk merc now sell - local Merc indy says he does it all the time and there's no issue with the later stuff - if pedantic - I would suggest fill with what we used to call distilled water (stuff in the shops for irons or battery top up etc.) to get around all the bits that a hose won't (block, coolers, passageways) and drain and start again
the original blue in European owners manuals say its 12 years fill and forget - at this mileage put a new thermostat in there - as they are junk in today’s world
note Japanese bikes and my vehicles don't get the poison coming out of a tap - used either pre mix 50 50, or fill with what we used to call distilled water (stuff in the shops for irons or battery top up etc.) and 50 % antifreeze

Run distilled water for a couple days then drain and fill with Zerex G48. No big deal.
Yes Zerex G48 is the same stuff as the Blue one from Mercedes. Just flushed my system and wanted to stay with the blue stuff but when I went to the dealer to buy it, they told me it has been discontinued. Then they told to use Zerex G48 since it was the same exact one.

Yes, NAPA stores are great sources for Valvoline/Zerex coolant. You could probably obtain it at a BMW dealer, too.
MBUSA is clearly on an economy drive, minimizing parts stocking.
For my GL, they no longer can provide a brake master cylinder, but they are readily available in aftermarket from original supplier.
