One time doing 75 or so on a very rural highway it suddenly became clear I was going to overshoot my turn onto another road. Right angle to left. Super heavy braking and turning anyway really chewed the edges of those Michelins. Only time I've ever experienced uneven tire wear.
Wheel alignment is the biggest scam in automobile ownership and maintenance.
Assuming you maintain correct tire air pressures, the only time you will require alignment is when new parts are required because they've worn out or you've experienced an accident and bent or broken something. You can probably detect parts wear by steering wheel feel and you should remember the accident.
An alignment "check" is pure gravy for the scam artist and they will do nothing. Will your shop have Mercedes parts on hand? Not likely. Will the dealer or your shop need to order them? Probably.
Alignment required due to parts wear or accident damage CANNOT be adjusted to correctness without parts replacement. Things DO NOT come loose. Yes, if you're buying new tires because yours are worn unevenly, be sure the installer also installs new suspension parts and restores alignment. Otherwise you'll wear out those new tires sooner than necessary too. A check or an "adjustment" won't help, but you'll be paying them more anyway.
I've never paid for a check or an adjustment because I've never needed either. I refuse the suggestion when buying new tires. I started driving in the 1960s.
Yeah, yeah ... if it was done incorrectly last time ...
Buy quality tires and keep them properly balanced and inflated. New cars will remind you of the latter.
