Happy Driving
Did that for years (multiple cars), never had any problem.
Now i drive a little less but still do the oil once a year (on the Merc).
But i only use cars for long-distance trips, engine can always get fully up to temperature.

seriously that is a big no no
I was already thinking I should post about wasting money on checking the oil - does anyone in europe ever do that on a car? what are you meant to do with the info if it was ever bad news? The idea of analysing oil is really for industry - where they are seeking to understand old kit or stuff is of unknown service limits and they choose to move the game to a continuously monitoring alternate maint regime
that got me thinking maybe its an American thing, and or dodgy oil and petrol brands and or just strange views (no offense intended - but some stuff I hear is plain weird).
The manu clearly uses mega quantities of its recco oils - so it can cope perfectly well with 2 years and or 12,000 mile serving schedules - anything earlier is just destroying the planet we are all trying to live on for absolutely nothing (and that's factoring german warp drive speeds - not chugging about like a lawn mower in the USA)
the only unwanted junk its likely to pick up is the bacofoil strength spray on cyl lining that never there on any modern car - and the dipstick will give you that clue for free....
as for 65k (40k miles) intervals - you realise oil is designed to keep the gunk in suspension and the recco service intervals are for when the oil is beginning to reach the limits where soon it can't hold any more and still protect stuff correctly.....

I know that the oil will be saturated with waste after a while so that's why i still replace it once a year, otherwise i wouldn't change it until the oil went black (doesn't really turn black on LPG).
