Dumb Question about Warranty

So I know the answer is most likely a no, but is there any aftermarket warranty providers that will still warranty a W221 for stuff like drivetrain or suspension components? I'm looking to buy an s-class for someone and they'll be barely putting any miles on it, probably around 3-5k per year. I found a 75k miles 2012 S550, but I wouldn't want to give them an unwarrantied M278 powered S-Class. I know it's a long shot but are there any decent companies out there or would I have to look for something newer like a 2015+ car to qualify for any warranty coverage?

Any warranty you would get would benefit whoever is providing the warranty. This is a 13 year old car.

Surprisingly, yes. A couple of us here purchased extended warranties that turned out well. I bought a three year third party warranty from my MB dealer for my 2008 in 2020. It is now expired and they won't sell me another one, but it paid out big...probably over $20,000. The key was this limit of liability was not aggregate, as many lower quality third party warranties are--meaning they close the checkbook once your claims add up to the wholesale value of your vehicle. There are lots of bad products out there, probably most of them, but you might find a decent option.

What was the company you used? Reputable ones like fidelity and options like maxcare I believe need the car to be under 10 years and less than 80k miles. Did yours cover suspension too?

If this is that company that Doug DeMuro used and abused; that company wrote a bunch of policies on Mercedes S classes and Range Rover’s, they are most likely out of business…

I cannot remember it's name--I could dig it up in paper files in my office. It did cover suspension. I perversely wanted lots of ABC components to fail while under warranty, but nothing went wrong. It has been five years, so I can't remember the details regarding the details when I bought it. Cost was around $4500.
