2005 S-500
Glass Replacement
2013 S550. A rock hit I my passenger side front glass and couple of days later I saw a huge Crack across the glass. I contacted Safelite to come Saturday to replace it. Do you think they will have the original glass? How can I get the original glass? Any help will be appreciated.

Do you mean the door glass or the windscreen?

Windscreens are usually aftermarket unless it's a particularly rare screen.

Check that they install glass with the same IR-reflective coating that you have now (if you have it).
There are also differences w.r.t. the sensors/cameras near the rearview mirror: nightvision camera vs non-nightvision etc.

I have a CL, but when Safelite replaced mine, they used an aftermarket product that lacked the row of metal teeth at the bottom of the glass that the plastic drainage piece clips in to. Water would have run off the windshield straight into places it shouldn't be. After some back and forth, they replaced it with OEM glass and all was well. They initially told me aftermarket glass was identical--if you go this route, don't leave until you confirm the drainage baffle is clipped in properly. Maybe take a photo before you go in for reference. My EQS also has a broken windshield right now, so get to do this all over again soon.

Whatever you do, DO NOT USE SAFELITE! They are just plain horrible.

Walk in to your local dealer and order it. Fit it yourself. Best way of ensuring correct parts and satisfactory workmanship.

When my drivers side door window cracked. I ordered a replacement from Mercedes and installed it myself. This is not a hard job to do.

Yes, that would have been the cheapest way to go. Unfortunately, I don't have any mechanical skills. Not a DIY guy. Don't want to mess anything up.
