Check Engine code diagnostic tool
So, I would appreciate any suggestions and recommendations on the OBD scanning tool that would be best to use at home for a non-mechanic such as myself. PLEASE NOTE THAT I DID REALIZE I AM POSTING IN THE W221 FORUM WHILE MY CAR IS W222. I HAVE ALREADY REPOSTED IN THAT FORUM, SO MY APOLOGIES FOR THAT. :-(
ANY AND ALL
responses will be greatly appreciated.

That said you can go to AutoZone or try launch creader elite benz v2.0 scanner.

I currently have a Foxwell NT530 with Mercedes software and so far it has done everything I needed it to do. Read/erase fault codes. Function test components. Show live data from the various sensors. With the help of the scan tool I fixed a fog light out that wasnt a simple bulb replacement, i diagnosed my ac blowing hot air and fixed it. Recalibrated one of my windows to work properly again.
But the Foxwell I have isnt touch screen. From my understanding the Launch will do everything the Foxwell can do or even more, and its touch screen. Which is why i would get it.
As far as Xentry I just havent needed to do anything that would require it.
Check engine light will come on for emission related issues. Could have faults in the car with alot of other things and the check engine light wont show, though a warning message may pop up on the dash with the issue. I've had the red battery warning message pop up a few times and for that I used a multimeter and one of my battery testers/monitors.
If you have a check engine light and think you fixed the cause it still make take a few drive cycles for it to drop on its own. Being able to erase the fault code then see if it pops back up comes in very handy.
Can get the launch for $100.
