the front driver seat at the very least will tilt forward significantly ( just like the equus, what you want is the wheel base which is longer than the long wheel base ( maybe the pullman)

While I would like more legroom the picture of Pullman floating around the Internet makes it look very limosine like. Hope that isn't the case.

and why are we back to the stubby antennae on the roof like the early 2007 s550 had on the decklid/boot? it was redesigned away in later model 07s but now it is reappearing. again. ACK!

Agreed. The 2013 SL has a composite trunk lid that hides all antennas inside without the need of any visible antenna

Pics of interior looks amazing but lets not forget its MBUSA who makes the call on what we can and can't have. Most likely a whole bunch of stripped down versions with very spartan interiors to lower msrp and bump up numbers with many options not available.

I dont think anyone that buys this for the number of seats.

Glad to see the push-down/pull-up window switches incorporated. The previous switches matched the rest of the interior but I usually had to feel around for a while to find the right one.

I dont get how its "disturbing" to you? 2 seats at the back makes complete sense and its not like it comes in 4 seats, its an option and the 4 seats are better in all aspects versus the 5, besides when have you ever seen 3 people seated in the back seat of an S-class? Never

2012 CLS63
FWIW: my local dealer told me they still have 2013 production until April, and then thinks
it will possible to configure by June, however designo will probably set it back from what I've also been told......worth the wait I hope

If they want a lower cost option for the US - they need a 6 cylinder option in the car instead of the base car having the V8 (no one wants the hybrid). Same with the CLS, MB gives away alot of sales in these two segments to BMW and Audi because they do not have a lower cost V6 option in these segments.

So it is an option? I thought so as I stated in my previous post. I used every S Class(420SEL,560SEL,300SDL,S500) I ever had to fit 3 people in the back. Thats why I love a big car lol. For that reason why. I agree no one buys this car for the number of seats but it is nice to have 3 in the back if needed.

Personally I would not buy any of the vehicles I stated above in a V6.

S350,SL350,CLS350 etc etc have been available for years in Europe, I think that MB thinks it will not be a big seller and also certifiying the car for North America costs $$$$$ no sales= money wasted= dropped stock prices.
Personally I would not buy any of the vehicles I stated above in a V6.

Just not feeling it. I feel like every newer model that comes out shows Mercedes losing their design confidence and direction (lots of sans-harmony). I feel the whole car is a fight between "old fogey" traits (interior) and overwrought messy "boy racer"-esque elements (exterior lines and fad-ish elements). The front is a fussy mess IMO with those clunky and awkwardly shaped headlights which I think will age poorly and harshly. The A/CLA/SL all have very clunky headlights which don't mate fluidly with the grille, and it's unfortunate to see the S going down the same path.
As far as engineering goes, the W221 still stands up to anything thrown at it so I'm sure it'll have to be phenomenal in that sense.... though I really hope it's not using a modified platform off an existing Benz (could hamper all that significantly). The S should get its own platform, especially right now as I'm not too impressed with the modified C chassis under the E Class (I think it feels proper on the C Class though).
