My S class is driven over 35K miles per year. Any sense of reliability of the 63 engine with this much use?

should not be an issue. However, if I were you I would get a 100K mile extended warranty. This being an all new model, electric gremlins are a potential issue. I would not be caught with out a warranty owning a S.

ALL modern AMG engines are as reliable if not more than the "regular" MB engines, these engines are vastly under powered for reliability hence why you can get 650hp crank with a simple ECU tune. Only issue is that the components cost more to maintain and/or replace ex. brake pads, rotors (especially the ceramics $$$) etc, regular scheduled service also costs more.
