Still wanting specific details on the improved sound of the 3D system. I have to decide today if I take an S63 without 3D sound, or wait a month for the S550 I ordered with the 3D sound. Decisions, decisions.

Keep in mind that both are Burmester sound systems. The basic Burmester is already equal to the prior W221 Bang & Olufsen, if not better IMO.

I wish it wasn't a 7000 dollar upgrade. I wanted to buy the system just for the cool circular speakers in the front to come twisting out.....LOL!
Does anybody else think that's cool besides me?........LOL

yeah - i agree with wolfman - i have the carbon ceramic brake option on my '14 cls63amg s-line, and there is a world of difference for the better. not sure i would spend the $9k again (value play decision) but in no way are they "useless" as someone upthread wrote. and yes -they look very cool with the gold callies! yummy.

I'm not exactly an audiophile but I do like great, balanced sounding systems. However, I must confess that the reason I decided to go for the 3D option is purely for visual aesthetics - I absolutely loved the tweeters along with the ambient lighting from the videos. And they definitely didn't disappoint in person.

Trunk Space with 3D sound...
I wanted to know how much difference the trunk space was. Here is a shot from my new S63. It basically occupies the left side aft of the whee lwell...

Thanks for the picture. But more importantly, how do you like the sound quality over the standard system? My car should be here in a few weeks. I can not wait to hear this system in the flesh!

It would be a nice test to take the same CD and play it on both systems at the same volume level. Your dealer would need to let you do the test. Unless you compare both in a blind test, it is tough to determine what is better. I say blind because if someone spends $6K on the 3D system, if they know they are in their car, that will always be better due to the confirmation bias. Maybe get an unsuspecting person who doesn't know better and see if they can tell the difference on something like the 1812 Overture at the same volume. That would be a great test.

The intro to the 1812 would be good. The canons would be a dead giveaway I agree. Vivaldi or the Brandenburg, perhaps? Hey, I might put that on my CD to load onto the hard drive when I get to the car. Nice autobahn cruising music
