MY2015 Worth the Wait?
#29
Based on the pics that are floating around of the new controller I prefer the existing controller that covers up.
The 9 speed tranny isn't a show stopper for me either.
The HUD would be nice, have had those on two prior cars and liked having it. This would be the only option that I would really like, besides maybe the Diesel engine. But none of these were reason enough to wait another model year for us.

Sorry to split the hair so to speak, but the entire car uses LEDs for illumination. There is not a single incandescent bulb on or in the car. One could assume just the headlights from your post. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'll go back to impatiently waiting for Match now.

I would wait till 2015 if I were you, that way some of the first model year problems will be dealt with.
You will also get:Touch Controller, Heads Up Display and most importantly the new 9 speed transmission, the current 7G came out in 2003 so it is an ancient transmission even if you factor the so called updated 7G tronic+.
These changes have nothing to do with mid-cyle and you should not be surprised.... I have a 2013 GL and the 2014 had a host of changes like Power second row folding seats, third row sunroof cover , heated/cooler cup holders ( all things that you could not get on the early to mid build 2013 in its first model year).

I was about to put my order in for a 2014 S550 4Matic however the delivery date is to be expected in fall of 2014. I asked my SA to see if I can order the 2015 instead and he said yes, as it is expected to be released around the same time as the expected delivery date of the 2014 anyways as it currently stands.
He said that I can choose the options on the 2014 and amend it for the 2015 order when the option list arrives.

Diesel, I was also under the impression that the touchbad would be standard issue on the S-Class; however, I was reading an article on eMercedesBenz.com http://www.emercedesbenz.com/autos/m...des-benz-s600/ which references the touchpad as being optional, even on the S600. Given that a similar feature is found in other comparable vehicles as standard, I would be rather disappointed in MBUSA if they do in fact intend to make this optional...![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)

In any case, options as such are good. Someone might prefer the current keypad with buttons. However, looking at the W205 price list, the touchpad is standard with Comand Online and an option even with the Audio 20 head unit. Comes with "Audio 20 CD mit Touchpad" according to the German price list. Price for this option is €238 and it may have something more than just the touchpad.
If some of these features are available from March onwards, it would be a good time to have details revealed to make the ordering process reasonable. Or is MB(USA) afraid of buyers abandoning showroom cars once they become aware of the changes.
