FIT & FINISH ISSUES THREAD
Anyone that owns a 2014 S CLASS - would you please check your car over carefully to see if all the seams are aligned, all the trim is matched up, all the curves are smooth, etc.
I've started seeing a lot of things that are very surprising to me with regards to the finishing of this car.
Saw the other day on the forum, an S63 with the most disgusting application of carbon fiber trim misalignment on a car. I looked at my car after that - and saw the same type of bad measurement.
Would you all please take a moment to check your vehicles?
Afterwards, we can figure out what our next steps could be.

I'm curious what you think you would do next? It sounds like this and anything else you find might require a dealer trip to fix misaligned door panel. Checking some other pictures, it surely is not supposed to be that way. I wonder if anyone had your door panel open after it left the factory (VPC, dealer, etc). Is the trim mis-aligned on the other side?
Of course, I realize it's a hassle to take the car in, but I presume the dealer would fix this for you when you are ready to get it fixed. If that is not your experience, I am sure we would like to know.

Thanks for the thread though. When I do the walk-through in Germany, I will check this out right at the factory to make sure. If it looks off, I will ask them about it. I guess I could make a subtle comment that I would expect that from an Italian factory worker but not a German. That should get them to send 10 workers over to fix it.

I’m 100% sure it was the PhotoFreakingShop. Just take a look at the gap between the two trim panels on this photo. It is so tiny, virtually non-existent. In the reality, there should be at least few mm of gap to prevent the panels from rubbing each other.
On a side note, I recently paid a deposit for the 2015 S65. I’m going to tell the dealership that if the new vehicle doesn’t come close to what pictured on the MBUSA (trim quality wise), they don’t have to bother shipping it from Germany.

On ours it just depends on the perspective point. From a perspective point in the center of the car (just above the center console) everything appears good. But if I get a high perspective from above the dash then it will look like it is misaligned. Just a matter of perspective from what I can see,

I'm not **** about it. If there are production and fit issues with a car costing $25,000 or $250,000 it isn't fair to the consumer who signs a purchase order and gets what appears visually to be defective. If you purchase a flat screen TV with 3 sides being perfect 90 degree square angles and one side is a weird shaped curve, you'd rightfully return to the store to ask "WTF".

I think that u took my response as an insult, im sorry that wasnt my intention. I just know that im very **** about many things and I expect perfection, however ive never noticed this as an issue before because the 222's ive seen all look like that so maybe im wrong maybe yours is misaligned.
Not a cheap car - and if they are going to put the car out there for sale with visual irregularities - the only way to stop this is to bring it to their attention.
I figured I'd begin some sort of forum to address this to them with the images of several users cars.

I've been witnessing M-B fit/finish and general detail-oriented quality, from design, presentation, business practice and mostly interior execution suffer and decline for a while now, at least in my own opinion (and I'm certainly not alone). As if they focus on only the popping-smoke effect and forgot that a Mercedes is supposed to be about the underlying quality first and foremost.
Very bad sign and upsetting to start to hear and see that the new S may not be any different.
The CLA also has a lot of these alignment problems, especially related to interior panel designs matching up, as does the A.... in fact, many new M-B's have been getting criticized for this. To me, the exterior designs also haven't "matched up" or look "aligned" (the actual designs) so I perceive the current design chief to not have the highest attention to detail.
