So how do you clear a frozen wiper. Typically its lifted to break the ice. In most cases a frozen wiper will not move by being switched on. Doing so risks motor and linkage breakage
IMO, the question still stands (if the ques is extended to " how do you lift the wiper to break it free of ice?"
Can this be done?... I hope so
I am considering the W222, the freshman issues are causing me concern (reading across multiple websites listing issues.).
I just realized, many w222 Owners will likely not have the car in a situation that allows snow ice buildup... LOL
Question still stands....

96 and 08 911 turbos
same story on my 220, which sits outside every day, rain, snow, whatever.
I've never had a wiper freeze to the glass. You can raise the wiper a bit to separate it from the glass. Beyond that, i don't see what you're doing.

They were designed that way. The W211 was like this. I don't know how many MB's were designed this way but the bottom line is that it was designed like that to hide the majority of the wiper when not in operation.
Pro: Aerodynamics and aesthetics.
Cons: You cant lift one of the wipers unless adjusted.

you are correct, not freshman, I was referring to the snapped off wiper occurrences being reported.. .. I hope the mechanism is redesigned second year.....glad you had a laugh, although the broken off wipers are likely not funny to MB.... but they'll get it right
it is not a "freshman issue"

Thanks.... did not know I had this feature....
Wipers being frozen where it seats wouldn't happen since the car is equipped with a heated windshield for the wipers, base edges and where the rain sensor and cameras are placed.... It works Automatically when outside temps are below 37F.. The w220 and w221 are equipped with this..
