I have gotten several PM's about Nut Brown vs. Auburn Brown and have created this picture which shows the difference.

While I like the Nut Brown, I preferred the Auburn Brown because I wanted something darker and, in my opinion, more dramatic looking.

I have been wondering about my car since it has been delivered to the port several days ago. Thankfully, it has gone to B8 status today but the Netstar report still does not yet state the name of the ship that my car has been assigned to. This greatly concerns me.

Because of these concerns, I made a few calls to friends I have in high places in the UK Royal Air Force, because of their close proximity to Germany. He was able to find a Shadow R1 reconnaissance aircraft that was not assigned to duty and has dispatched it to Bremerheven.

I am expecting an update on my car later today, Netstar or not.

Good news this morning. My car went to C2 status and is on the Eternal Ace heading for California, arriving 11/23.

I also just got my final MSRP. Since there have been several people asking about the cost of the custom interior program, and nothing here is confidential and everyone really knows what these cars cost, I thought I would post my car so people understood what is involved.

Basically, the cost of the custom interior consists of having to get the 501 Black Exclusive Nappa Leather interior, the PA1 Custom order charge and finally, the PA4, cost of the special color.

 

Man, you didn't leave anything out. LOL

Terminator2029, I like how you added a $7,000 discount to my MSRP for being a good customer. I'd much rather see $159,680 than $166,680, unfortunately, that is not the case. I think I might take your MSRP and send it to the dealer.

I actually have not negotiated my price yet. I trust they will do right by me. They know me well enough and I've known one of the owners for 20 years.

The people at my dealership are great and it won't be any different when we work out a price.

I thought it would be interesting to see my ships schedule as it makes its way over to California. I tracked down the Eternal Ace vessel schedule to compare it to what Netstar is telling us the ETA is.

As you can see, Netstar is saying the ETA is 11-23 while the Eternal Ace vessel schedule is saying 11-25.

The couple of days are pretty important because I'd like to have a shot at getting my car before Thanksgiving, which is the 27th.

It will be interesting to see how the dates work out as the ship gets closer to the USA and the west coast.

 

My friend - I now know how you feel because our new Range Rover Supercharged LWB with all the toys is scheduled to arrive at the end of December!!!! (I am Jewish, but I feel like its a Christmas Present!!!!!!)

Just thought of something.

If a customer is getting the S550 and orders the exlusive black nappa trim - they have to pay the $4000+ on a regular car.

You are getting the SUPER upgraded $16,000 brown designo custom leather.

Why are you also paying for the black exclusive leather if you are not getting this.

Sort of like buying an Armani Suit for $3000 and then deciding to go instead for a custom made Armani Suit for $10,000 while you have not yet purchased the off the rack one.

Shouldn't they delete the black exclusive leather since you are not actually getting this? They are not using it in the car because you selected the brown.

 

I believe they to do it this way for production purposes. The 501 Black Exclusive Nappa leather code must be there to specify what all the parts are that are not custom.

They apparently have decided that for these interiors they want north of $20,000 and given their systems, this is how it breaks down. They get the $16,055, the $4,450 and then the $2,500 for a total of $23,005 for my custom interior. I suppose they could have broken it down differently, but given they still need these codes for the production of the car, this does make sense to me. I say this, having now visited the plant and custom order departments. I have a much better understanding of how their systems work and this all comes together.

When you order your car, it goes in as a regular order. For the system to accept an order and confirm it, there must be an interior code.

It isn't until the order is accepted by Germany, that they start to make it a custom order by adding the factory codes, PA1 and 021. My car got a PA4 order because my customization was more than their standard custom program.

This is how they do it so that it fits into the mechanics of their ordering system as a standard order first. It is then manually adjusted with the custom order codes and specifications. When I went to Germany, I got a print out of my order and it showed how this is all done.

My paperwork had a few pages of all the standard codes in the car like any order would have but, as a custom car, it had a PA1 attachment. This attachment had 6 pages, single spaced, with every part, panel and trim that was custom made, with the specifications for each part. Of course, it was all in German so it took forever to try to figure out what it all said. I eventually gave up.

The rest of the car, which did not have a custom order description to it, was made in conformance with the standard 501 Black Exclusive Nappa leather specifications.

I hope my description wasn't confusing. I did not understand why they did it this way at first, but have gone through the process and visited Germany, it now makes sense.

 

I do see what you're saying. It's difficult to get the concept out of my head that you are paying for "Full Black Exlusive Leather" and "Full Brown Designo Leather"

I understand, but put in your terms... think of it as buying the material for two gorgeous dresses and deciding to make one spectacular dress with all that material. You have a little waste, but in the end, its all worth it.

Eternal Ace has been out of range for the last several days but showed up this morning, all in one piece, thankfully.

Still quite far away from the US, being north of Angra do Heroismo in the Azores, located in the middle Atlantic.

On a straight course for the US. Apparently doing well, as her arrival date in Long Beach is now showing one day earlier than before.

 

Well, look who showed up after being out of range again for the last several days while crossing the Atlantic.

It's ETERNAL ACE, now safely in US waters and heading for Brunswick.

Next stop after Brunswick will be just east of the Panama Canal. That will be when she is really starting to get close. Still a good two plus weeks on the water for my car.

 

I feel like in a way; I am getting a new car too lol

Went to the dealer today and got a few updates on my car.

The Netstar "Events" now shows CS0 as of 10-28 which means my car has been submitted to the US Customs Service for proper clearances. Of course, such a beauty will be admitted, with no questions asked.

On another note, the Netstar system and the shipping schedule for ETERNAL ACE are now in sync with each other.

My car is arriving at Long Beach on November 24th.
