Voice commands?

First of all, my wife and I got back home last night and I'm happy to report that my new S550 is still in the garage, safe and looking gorgeous.

While in Seattle, I was trying to look up info on voice commands for climate control on the online manual. I struck out. So, when I got home last night I looked at the voice command manual and there is nothing on this subject. So, I'm guessing that there are no voice commands for climate control, right? For example, one cannot say, "72 degrees" to set the temperature I presume.

I found these for the E-class which also uses the linguatronic system; I have not tried them all.

Thanks Steve. Yes, I saw all those commands in the manual. However, there are no voice commands for Climate Control.

I must have a bad accent because my voice command system has no clue what I'm talking about......on any subject. LOL

you guys went through the voice prompt work?
I had to do that when I got one of my cars..........never even used it haha....
is it still the same for this car too?
dealer wants me to come back and go through the car with the shop manager, and true he'd probably teach me a lot about the features........but I don't really care enough I guess

Yes, I went through the training. The system asks you to repeat 25 sets of numbers, four digits long. The training continues with about the same number of phrases. It does help improve voice recognition for us with deep voices. I also had the dealer do their feature review with the service manager; I knew more about the car then they did and ended up educating them. I actually read the manual from cover to cover (it was apparent they did not); they still call me occasionally to ask a question.

I've been trying to use the voice commands more frequently in the past week after I returned home from Seattle. It's just a matter of getting use to it. Yesterday, I was finally successful in putting in a destination on a trip to Cedar Rapids IA for a tennis match. At first, I tried verbalizing the entire address all at once, but the system had a lot of difficulty. Then I decided to do it in steps....city, street, and house number and it worked nicely. Practice makes perfect.

On another note, on the way to Cedar Rapids from Des Moines, I only got 26 mpg due to a 25-40 mph head wind and 2 passengers in the car. However, on the way back, I was getting 31.9 mpg with 3 passengers until we hit a severe line of thunderstorms with 60 mph head winds. I'll tell you what. That was a bit scary. Almost every vehicle pulled over to to the break down lane on I-80. The exception were a few trucks that I saw weaving in the lane. You cloud not see more than about 30 feet in front of you. I slowed down to 20 mph. The car handled the situation beautifully. I was astounded to learn after we passed the severe thunderstorm line (fairly narrow) that the distronic plus was still in working order in rather heavy rain. I know that the radar cruise on my LS 460L would not work under these conditions. The lucky thing was that there was no hail in this severe line of storms. I would have been very upset if my car got damaged due to hail. In any case, the mpg went down to about 28.7 by the time I got home on the last 60 miles or so. I am convinced that one can average 30 mpg on the highway with this car under normal weather.

Hi this is my first post as a S550 owner. Does anyone know if I can switch the order of the address book. In my phone I keep my names by first name and last name but my new cars seems to want me to search by last name and first name.

I read the manual but did not find any instructions. If there is a way to change the default I would be grateful

thanks

phil
