Keeping Leather Clean

Due to my business I am always dirty. How do you all keep your leather clean?

I ordered my vehicle with the Crystal Grey/Seashell Grey Nappa Leather along with the designo Metallized Ash wood plus exclusive trim. Problem is it looks nice but find it impossible to keep clean. The pictures off mbusa's build site and brochure don't even closely resemble the actual. Instead of a grey, it's more like white.

Are any off you using any leather protector? I am thinking just the dye off new clothes will rub onto the leather. Any recommendations. Thanks.

Your dealer should have a MB approved leather protection program and anything that happens to your leather should be repaired or replaced free of charge. Check with them for particulars of what is covered.

They will give you a package with the cleaning products.

I have used this with each of my cars and never had a problem.

You can use the dealership stuff but I like SwissVax leather cleaner and Griot's Garage leather conditioner. I got those 2 items for my Dad to use in his Acura TL which has the upgraded leather and the smell and protection is great. Clean and condition your seats often in your case, the gentler you can be the better.

I like my MB Tex where I just use Tuff Stuff APC and some 303 Aerospace and the thing still looks great.

From first hand experience - Do not wear leather coats or pants and sit on the seats without a fabric cover. All leather is stained and the stain (usually black or brown) will rub off onto the seats. It is especially noticeable on light colored ones. The dark stains cannot be removed (my dealer tried everything) and it will require the seats to be re-stained and it is very expensive.

I'd love to see pictures of your interior. The seashell gray with the metalized ash trim sound so good!

About a week ago, I ordered $116 worth of cleansers of all types from Griot's. The products arrived yesterday nicely packed. Along with the cleansers, I also ordered several wonderful very soft towels. I had heard from a friend that their products are terrific.

Lexol leather cleaner, orange bottle, Lexol leather conditioner, brown bottle. Our Mercedes dealer has been using this forever, and I've been using it for over 20 years. Great, great stuff!

I’ve used Lexol for years. Since I was a kid. I keep hearing about Zaino and how great it smells and makes the car smell new. Anyone switch from Lexol to this ever?

For someone who is “always dirty,” you picked the wrong interior color. My wife, who is “always clean,” has that interior in her 2016 E350 and just keeping the color transfer from her designer jeans off of the seats is a bit of a chore, not to mention the fact that we put black floor mats in to cover the insanely light carpets. WHO picks these color combinations at MB? They have no idea of life in the real world. If they did, the carpets & mats in your car would have been a complimentary DARK gray. I love several of the very light S Class interiors, but as someone who isn’t “always clean,” I ordered black. Makes life easier.

The gray interior that the OP has is a truly gorgeous one. But, as with so many wonderful things, MB has discontinued both the interior color and the metalized trim. They just HAD to make room for the Mahogany/Silk Beige color that is just flying out of showrooms.........NOT!

I realize that the interior doesn’t look anything like this in person, but believe it or not, I took this screen shot TODAY, and this is STILL the way MBUSA depicts this interior on their website, after what, over a year? Can you believe it?

My bud paid for the ceramic treatment on his tan interior 750i. He swears its impervious. Its a 2017 and it still looks new, no stains or anything and he claims he doesnt do anything but wipe it off.

I use both for years. When I run out of Lexol, I will not be buying it again. The Zaino is fantastic...and does smell great. The cleaner and conditioner are both great.

I own rental properties. About 30 of them so I know what you mean about being dirty. I do most of my own work as well and have no partners so I am always in and out of cars. My advice is either use the MB as a non work car(I use a Dodge caravan and that way the MB's stay clean) or get a dark color interior for your MB. Since you already have the color I would suggest using Lexol Leather cleaner. I only use that. Also I would invest in having your interior regularly cleaned by a professional to keep it looking great. It is well worth the investment.

Stunning! They are great colors for warm climates. Maybe people who are retired or never get their hands dirty? Wear light color clothes? Or someone who gets their car cleaned on a weekly basis.

Light Interior Care

Shot of my 2017 S550 with the Crystal Gray/Seashell Gray interior and metallized wood dash and wheel. I've had the car for 1-1/2 years now and the seats are still good. I've tried lots of leather cleaners & conditioners on other cars and my current favorite is Leatherique Pristine Clean and Leatherique Rejuvenator. I'm interested in trying the Gyeon and Gtechniq products. Agree with the comment on the carpeting. What crazy person decided that dove gray, nearly white, carpet was a good idea?!

MB lost touch with the real world on this issue several years ago. They now give you pretty much only two choices: Some lighter colored interiors with insanely light colored carpets or other interior colors with black carpets—with nothing inbetween. Does this make sense to ANYONE? The light gray interior would have looked sensational with a dark gray carpeting. I have a new SL on order. The Ginger Beige/Espresso Brown interior I chose (photo below), comes with BEIGE carpeting and floor mats. How lovely it would have looked and how much more practical it would have been to make the carpeting & mats the Espresso Brown-like the dash! Sometimes I really feel that the design folks choosing the colors at the factory have lost touch with the needs and desires of their customers. I’ll be putting some dark brown floor mats in the car when she arrives.

I have ash leather in my AMG, it's worn well and easy to keep clean. A very light color too. Seersuckers and khakis haha! Don't even own jeans!

Strange they don't offer better interior color combos in the S when it comes to light colors. My E has the lighter macchiato beige interior, but they match it with brown carpeting which makes more sense.

Regarding the light carpeting. I buy new cheapies ever so often to keep any soil off OEM mats.

I have actually considered have the light gray carpeting in mine replaced with a mid level gray. For what it's worth, the Weather Tech rubber mats I bought for winter come in a gray color that's very close to a match of the dashboard, which I believe MB calls seashell gray.

My last car had the Designo interior in Black/Capuccino (or Amaretta, depending what doc you look at) and I put in the now-ubiquitous diamond-quilted leather mats in black with beige stitching to help sell it. I've already ordered the black with red stitching for my SL...
