Most of those miles the past year have gone on my 2005 VW Phaeton, love that thing... here’s a few pictures of it next to my S8 (RIP - Rest In Pieces, lol)

@Quenthel
It seems that the previous owner had the wheels powder coated, and then must have damaged one of the rims, had it replaced, but not powder coated! I'm going to try to get in contact with them and see where they got it done, and what color! It's a local car to me, and maybe the dealer will reach out to them for me :duh: Edit 1 Next I spoke to my service advisor, he thought that maybe a repair had been performed and the wheel simply wasn't repainted, so he dug through the vehicle history and determined that yes a wheel had been repaired (in 2020), and he is going to speak to their wheel guy about getting it resprayed, and repairs to the other wheels. So, new comment and pics! Edit 2 My Service Advisor had their wheel guy look today, and apparently the one shiny one is correct and as it should be! The wheel guy is of the opinion that the other wheels have been repaired and painted, a few times, goodness know what the previous owner did! The suggestion is to get all 4 wheels refurbed, and sprayed the same color in one go :smash: I think that I will wait for a month or two before doing that, I can live with the difference! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...7240cc0104.png https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...569430493d.png |
Also, gratuitous picture of post wash and clay bar from Thursday night, yesterday I applied a Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish, to keep the shine!

Very nice! I can see you are missing the same silver line in the grill as I do. I made an ersatz replacement with sculpted plastic and some silver film. Looks convincing enough but at some point I want to properly replace it.

You know, I noticed that when I posted the picture! I just took a look in person, and you’re right, I’m missing a piece! Let me know if you find a part number!
Thankfully it's on such a busy place that it doesn't get noticed, like, at all (especially with my little jury rigged fix). The dealer told me that it usually happens because of the bristles in car washes, but I have no idea how true this statement is. |
I believe this is the part both of you are looking for. It is the entire upper cover (please go and check yours and be sure the upper chrome strip is on that piece).

Thanks @cfmistry , I too found that part, but I think that’s just the blank plate and not the trim, I think that this might be the trim piece we need (222-888-01-00).
I just found this: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...bfaba99b0.jpeg I have something else to order, so for another $30 I may add it to my cart! As for going through a car wash @Quenthel not any more for mine! I enjoy hand washing, and detailing, it gives me some time to myself! |

BUT, since I live in an apartment, I have to use one of these "manual" car washes where you do everything yourself and the station provides foam, pressurised water etc. I use my stuff (even for the foam) with the exception of the pressurised water, but I have to go there after midnight when there's no living soul around; people can get really mad waiting me with my 2 bucket system and the 3 hours I need :D (and that's after I had it coated and I don't have to apply wax any more). |
Might as well have a shot at it. Here goes

Thanks to both for finding and confirming the code (apparently I didn't look hard enough!). I found a website that actually ships to Switzerland, so I'll but it and see if it works out.

Hi.
Traded my BMW 7 series for 2020 S450. |
They are also double the price for some reason! Oh, also, how did you install it? Did you have to clean anything up, apply glue or dismount anything? Did it give you any trouble? Thanks in advance. |
Correct, I ordered 222-885-02-26-9040, I do have the 360 camera, this is the door, with the trim piece attached.
The install wasn’t too bad, four 10mm bolts across the top of the grill, and then pull the grill forwards. There are three clips across the top and two on the bottom that hold it in place after that. Then detach all of the electrical connectors, I had 3. From here, place the grill face down on something soft, there are five torx screws holding the camera assembly in place, take them all out. Push he camera door so that it’s wide open, and pull the camera out. The door has a spring on it, take note of where it is! Unclip the door, and your ready to go in reverse. Putting the spring back on the door was a pain, but after that it went quickly. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...f7c31878d.jpeg Torx screws on camera |
Welp... I don't feel that brave, I'm sure I'm going to break something! :D
Will probably fix it down the line at some point, right now the "trick" seems to hold up fine (well OK, not from too close up). |

I thought the same when I switched out my grill; I usually do break a few clips. But the grill is surprisingly stout and nothing will break!

Got a good one…..

That's purty!
