449 HP or 455 HP
I'm seeing two different horse power ratings for the US Mercedes 2014 S550 in reviews. Is it 449 HP or 455 HP?

It has always been a 4.7L engine and the hp for the U.S. version is 449. It is 455 in Europe because of the conversion, 449 is SAE and 455 is the DIN measurement. There is no difference in power or displacement just how it is rated/calculated.

Agreed. My 2015 S550 shows 4.7 litres, 285 cubic inches. 449 hp.
This is probably enhanced marketing-speak; the swept volume of the engine hasn't changed.

449hp or 455hp
When I purchased my 2009 CL63 there were two different horsepower figures being advertised (518 and 525). When I asked my service advisor about the two different numbers he said in the United States that 2 "charcoal" filters are required for emissions and they came equipped with the car, and overseas the filters were not required, and that accounted for the seven horsepower difference. "IF" that is true, maybe the same applies here ?
