Question touchpad 2015

hello drivers

was wondering what the 2015 drivers think about the touch pad....
do the functions seem easier to use with the pad or the command knob?

wondering if it can be added to a 2014 model
many thanx

I don't know about the others, and I've only had the car a few days, but I find the touchpad a mystery. I would rather have the old setup at this point with physical keys.

My Audi had a touchpad, and it was very easy to use. The MB one doesn't work in the same manner, perhaps that adds to my fustration. I really need help with this feature. My delivery specialist will go over it with me, but I feel stupid not being able to master it on my own.

I want to set up my favorites and be able to use the touchpad. I did finally get my seat set to my liking.

I don't want to be like my friend with the Cadillac and never use the electronics.

Well it seems better when you try what it's capable of like writing letter using your finger (Handwriting) and then the car recognise it but the favourites function seems to be harder with the touchpad because there are no physical numbers so you have to press the favourite button and then choose one of your presets.

Somehow I feel the COMAND implementation for the touchpad is not complete yet. I thought the normal keypad has more of these small help windows like the one opening when you slightly touch the keypad. The car with the touchpad has this part of the screen black in some cases. Perhaps the coming SW release will make it more complete.

The favourites example above was a good one, fully agree.

Doesn't seem unrealistic to retrofit the controller as the headunit has remained the same. Obviously the dealer will not be the route to go with this.

Agree, the COMAND head unit may need a SW update and it would need version coding (I found a setting for touchpad presence). Touchpad connects via CAN to the central operating unit while the keypad connects via a LIN bus but the central operating unit seems to have both connectors present.

MBUSA may block the datacard update that would be needed to enable proper SCN coding after parts change, otherwise it should be rather straightforward for any workshop.
