Best spot on windshield for EZ-Pass transponder?

I hate to start a new thread on this, but the search option was not conclusive to me on where is the best spot on the windshield of a 2014 S550 to mount an EZ-Pass transponder. I am taking a long trip from IA to New England in September and I just received the transponder from the OH Turnpike.

Any help from you guys is greatly appreciated.

At rearview mirror - Right (passenger) side - place as high up as possible. when looking at windshield from outside, and under certain lighted reflections you will see that this area is not coated.

Area also described in PDF manual.

The 2014-2015 S-Class has a metallic tint on the windshield but there are two places were the tint is absent so frequencies of a radar detector and an ez-pass can pass through. The first location is just to the right of the rear view mirror where there is a small rectangle that is outlined in yellow if you look closely at an angle. This is where I placed my smaller updated ez-pass. If you place the ez-pass so it's aligned with the left side of the rectangle (closest to the rear view mirror (if you are looking from the interior out) it will be out of your view while sitting in the drivers seat. The second location the ez-pass can be placed is in the lower center of the windshield in the trapezoid that it outlined in yellow. You can spot the small rectangle and trapezoid if you look at the windshield closely at an angle from either the interior or from outside the car.

In my 2012 S63 I have a V1 radar detector just the left of the rear view mirror but unfortunately the new S class no longer has a trapezoid or small rectangle there. I recently picked up a 2015 S65 and for now placed the hardwired V1 radar detector in the lower center of the windshield but in that location the cord and unit can be seen easily from the outside of the car and is just asking for a thief to break the glass and steal it. I'm still thinking of a way to relocate it so its concealed like the install in the 2012 S63.

Hope this helps.

Sure enough, you guys are spot on. I located the roughly 4" by 3" rectangle to the right of the camera housing by viewing it in light. You can even see it from the inside of the car if you look at a certain angle. The EZ-Pass is now mounted and it is away from my line of sight.

I have a 2012 S550, had issues with my EZPass not working, thought it was the transponder. Sure enough, after reading this thread I found a faint grid looking 4x3 rectangle at the top just to the left of the blacked out section behind the mirror(when sitting in the drivers seat) I think on newer models it is on the right. Thanks for the info!
