What recommendations does anyone have for snow tires? I am looking for tire replacement on my 18" not a tire / wheel package.

I just recently received my S550 4-Matic. It came with All Season run-flat tires and thought the car was doing pretty good, BUT I just installed Studded Hakka 8's and wow it is a huge improvement in brutal cold, patchy ice covered roads and packed snow, and glare ice 4-way stops. The Hakka 8's have lots of metal studs, but you do not notice much noise when driving on clear pavement - I'll be taking the car on a 500Km trip on the highway and noise won't be an issue. The studs don't stick out much and I think they retract magically.

I am pretty sure that these are the best winter tires available.

You have 18" rims, so it should be easier to find, but for others who are interested, I have 19 AMG rims:

The car came with:

Front: 245/45 (8.5J x 19)

Rear: 275/40 (9.5J x 19)

I installed Hakka-8
245/45R19 102 load. T speed. Studded.

It's such a huge difference from the stock tires, I'd say anyone driving in real winter snow conditions would immediately be grinning after having these installed.
