The bubble strikes again
I am sad to report that 3 tiny bubbles have shown up on the windshield in front of right side of the camera sensor housing if viewed from the front of the car. When I first saw this I was hoping that these were 3 little arrows that were suppose to be there. But when I brought my car to the dealer this morning for the 10,000 mile service, they confirmed that they are little bubbles.
On my recent long trip, I noticed that when I was on the passing lane on interstates, the warning vibration on steering wheel and the red colored warning on the info cluster screen would not always work when the driver's side tires would touch or cross over the solid line marker on the left side of the road. These tiny bubbles forming in front of the camera could very well be the reason.
A new windshield is on order and they told me that it usually takes about 3 weeks to arrive here. Fortunately the dealer uses a very reliable windshield replacement company here in Des Moines so I'm hoping that everything will be as good as it was from the factory. The bubbles have not gotten any larger since I first became aware of them.
Those of you that had this problem and had your windshield replaced, are you satisfied? Has MB made improvements on the replacement windshield so this will not happen again? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
I'm guessing that there are so many problems with windshields that they don't have a sufficient supply. I'd be happy if you got your windshield in three weeks, but disappointed that it as taken me so long.
Till now, I have seen nothing - but I am not crazy...I really am hearing a series of snaps every now and then.
Sorry to hear Bean!
This past Saturday and drove to Minneapolis and back and I would say that about 80% of the time on the Interstate, the Lane Keeping Assist and steering assist was not functioning. I also started to see quite frequently the following messages on the driver info screen: "Dtr+...steering assist not available". Also, "PreSafe features may not be available" or something like that.
I remember seeing this sort of message over a month ago, but I thought it was just a fluke since after shutting off the engine and restarting the message disappeared. But now, it is much more frequent. I imagine this probably has something to do with the tiny bubbles that appear to be located just above the camera side camera sensor.
Do you guys have any idea if this may be caused by something else? It's hard to believe that the tiny bubbles which do not seem to be directly in front of the right side (looking from the front) camera sensor could be causing this problem.
