My 2015 S63 Coupe

I am starting a new thread as the other thread has been destroyed by constant arguments.

My S63 coupe is on a truck heading to Dallas.

My Specs:

2015 S63 coupe

Obsidian Black with Exclusive Black Nappa leather
Burmester 3D High End Audio
Red painted calipers
20 inch multi spoke forged wheels - silver Warmth and comfort package
Driver assistance package
Refrigerator in rear console
AMG Performance Steering wheel
Night view assist plus

Also I am getting:

escort radar 9500ci install,
5% tint,
renntech full tune - 701hp
Xpel ultimate paint protection film - wrapping the entire car.

LovinMercedes 10-18-2014 09:58 AM

I am glad you did this. It was not fair what happened.

We are all very excited to share your excitement with your new car and it was not possible after the thread got hijacked with ridiculous arguments that will never stop between certain people.

What day was your car released? Should be in your driving hands very soon and looking forward to pictures and your impressions.

How are you sleeping these days with the wait for your car so close. :rolf:

TestnDoc 10-18-2014 10:11 AM

Can't wait to see pics of your S63. I got to test drive the 550, can't imagine what the 63 will be like!!

hyperion667 10-18-2014 10:39 AM

no wheels??? :) this car would look so amazing with some nice HRE's

congrats again...

I think I saw a new coupe on the highway last night......I haven't turned my head so quickly in a while :)

Thank you. The coupe was released to carrier on the 16th which is the same day it was received at the VPC. The turnaround time at VPC was less than 24 hours.

Sleeping hasn't been good for days now. At first I was waiting for my sedan to come and now the coupe. I tracked the ship like a stalker both times - sedan and the coupe.

I should have the car in my hands next week and I can't wait. I will post pics once I get it.

In the meantime - few pics of my sedan before the tint and extra stuff.

Thank you. I like the 20 inch forged wheels MB offers so I got that. I didn't like the 19s on my 14 S550. 20s are nicer.

Love that porcelain interior on the sedan.

Is that jet black?

Yes. That's jet black (040).

I haven't had time to digest that porcelain interior as I took delivery of the sedan at 8pm last Monday and dropped it off at another dealership Tuesday at 7am for tint etc.

I was not around this week. Will probably pick it up this Monday.

hyperion667 10-18-2014 11:18 AM

beautiful pictures Sam, that is a gorgeous interior! nice executive back seat too:naughty::naughty:

Congrats!
Arguably the best luxury coupe on the market now, regardless of price.
On another note, it really is unfortunate that one nasty troll can derail most of the threads and interesting discussions about these cars.
Let's not feed him and ignore his yapping so hopefully he would go away....

TestnDoc 10-18-2014 12:56 PM

Gorgeous! Love the 2 tone black/porcelain. Can't wait to see your coupe. I'm really tempted to go get a 550 coupe today. Dealer has the edition 1 car, and a loaded out black, with black/grey designo interior, minus the night vision option. Tempting for sure....

I have a question for you, Sir.

What is the use case when one owns the sedan and the coupe? In other words, why would one need to have both?

I'm just trying to convince myself whether or not I will need the S-coupe as well. :)

I was having difficulty choosing. I like the roominess of the sedan but I really like the looks and feel of the coupe. For me I would switch between sedan and coupe. Also sedan is better for family. I had the 2014 S550 and I liked it a lot but was having problems with it so I sold it and opted for the S63 sedan.

Great specs. I'm ordering the same in Lunar/grey minus the refrigerator and with carbon package inside and out. Skipped the carbon ceramic brakes as apparently they can be quite high maintenance if car is driven a lot.

That's why I skipped them. Maintenance is high on ceramic brakes

Unless you track the car on a regular basis, the maintenance on CCBs is nothing.

I thought they were expensive to replace.

Yes they are, they last multiple times longer then steel though, no fade, better performance and handling (unsprung weight reduction does wonders).
When you track it regularly though, even CCBs wear out and the bill is horrendous.
I know a lot of guys tracking cars at every opportunity (that came OEM with them), like F 430s,etc, who replace the brakes with conventional setup to save $$$.
Having said that, IMO, MB or BMW or Porsche are quite reasonable vs cost of replacement in a Ferrari (mid $20ks)

WSH 10-19-2014 11:20 PM

CCB should be standard on any >$150K AMG

CCB offers immediately apparent improvement in pedal feel and confidence at any speed in latest SL65; IMO, biggest dynamic weakness of SL65, a dynamically phenomenal car, is std steel brakes (if someone had skimped on spec'g a trivial <$10K option on a $250K commuter car)

Zero diffce in mtce costs (who the hell keeps these cars beyond 2yrs anyway???)....if anything, suspect steels have poorer durability vs CCBs in wkend mtn twisties driving (tracks are rather irrelevant/inefficient/boring to anyone w/nearby mtns and yr-round 50-80F driving weather ala SF/LA)

Any 63/65 are cheap, disposable tech devices akin to phones but w/more troubling safety decay curves as they age (esp the myriad of airbags and sensors/systems which can be rather dangerous as they decay) post 1-2yrs of typical user driving (or even if just sitting unused in a garage)

mavenplayer 10-19-2014 11:59 PM

No doubt ccb is a better braking system but have heard from several owners with Merc ccb that they are prone to catching a lot of dirt and dust in the pads, causing a squeaking noise sometimes. Anyone heard or experience the same?

Congrats! Let me know if you plan on selling your wheels :)

ONEFASTE55 10-22-2014 10:36 AM

I have also ordered an S63 coupe. Diamond white with saddle interior.

How long did it take you to get the car from the day you ordered it? I just ordered mine 2 weeks ago and they said it could be 4 months or longer.

I also ordered a ML63 at the same time and that will be here in December. Let me know what you think after driving it. I have heard one at idle and the exhaust note is a little tame!

Thanks

I ordered mine back in May. It was produced 9/22 and currently is in a truck on the way to the dealership. Seems like it's on the truck for a while. How slow is the guy driving?

The cost is $4600. I don't have experience with either but I did lots of research on many forums. Xpel ultimate was the top recommendation. I still have not gotten the car so don't know how good it will look after Xpel. It should be done by Saturday.

sheesh that's high, I'd rather get the car wrapped for that:nix:

how long are you keeping the car Sam?

DaveVY 10-24-2014 06:58 AM

Opticoat and XPel are two totally different products. The opticoat is a liquid product applied and is a microscopically thin layer on top of the paint. The XPel product is a film product applied to the paint.
Opticoat will be not be very effective at protecting against small road rash but will be good protecting against acid rain, bird droppings, etc. Opticoat will also, due to its very very thin nature, tend to enhance visual appearance like other "wax" or sealant products.
XPel, due to its thicker film, will be effective at protecting against small road rash and also acid rain, bird droppings, etc. but XPel will not have the same visual "wax" effect. Some people will apply waxes or sealants over the XPel for some visual enhancement to have the best of both worlds.
This is just my opinion. :-)

You are correct. My film guy did apply a sealant on top of Xpel to give it a shinier visual effect.

Beautiful car

How does it ride compared to the base S550 coupe - noticeably firmer over bumps or about the same?

How is the transmission? Any delay getting into gear from Park, as has been reported? Any rough shifting especially downshifting in manual?

Enjoy!

Umm, why is it already in your garage??? I'd expect you to be out for hours.

I have not had the hesitation in transmission that has been reported here. I have a 2014 GL63 for over a year now and have not noticed anything like that.

In my hour or so driving of both S63 sedan and coupe I did not notice any such thing. The transmission has always been very smooth.

No delay or rough shifting in any of my AMG cars.

I did not drive the S550 coupe so can't comment on the ride between the S63 and S550.

I did have the 2014 S550 sedan with MBC. The 550 sedan was definitely smoother but the S63 is also very smooth. I can't wait to get both the S63 sedan and the coupe back so I can start driving them.

How's the heated windshield look from the inside? Can you tell any difference vs your non heated cars?

So you lowered the coupe as well? Tune as well?
What are your impressions?

Love the collection! Unless you are in CA, put some water on your lawn ;)

I cannot tell at all. I have that option on the sedan. There are I visible wires or anything different that I can see.

I didn't lower the coupe or sedan. I did get Renntech tune on all 3 vehicles. I love the tune as the car is more responsive. For coupe and sedan - I don't accelerate rapidly until the 1000 miles. Will report back after the break in period.

I am in Texas and the water is never enough. Also there are water restrictions now because of the drought.
