S400 Road Noise
Here is a video of a noise level app on my iPhone placed on the dashboard of my S400. This was me driving home on a normal Tokyo road at about 45kph.

It may not sound bad but believe me 80dB of road noise wears on the nerves.
There is a Japanese expression which may explain MB Japan`s refusal to even look at my car. It translates as "after you catch a fish you don't need to feed it".
Anyway exasperation has won and I have traded my S400 for a second hand Jaguar XJ, which will arrive early next week.
It is a pity as apart from the road noise the S400 is overall a nice car. But enough is enough.
Thanks but I ran out of luck when I chose an S Class and shame on me for believing the hype.
I think it's your perception that's the problem...
I also downloaded the app and used it inside the house and it was reading inconsistent high figures.
I agree with Emilner, that this could be a perception issue, have you tested the same appon your new Jaguar?

These are the types of figures to expect. I will be getting my Jag next Monday and will repeat the test.

The app is working correctly and the figure of 80dB is correct. I will be comparing with my Jag but a get the sneaky feeling that some people are on here with the remit of trying to defuse legitimate complaints.
As to which car is better. To each his own...

We in the US are spoiled with our service even though many complain about their dealers. I know that MB service in the UK, France and Germany is lousy in comparison.
Refusal of a US dealer to check on an issue like this would involve lawyers in a real hurry.
IMO moving to a Jaguar is a real downgrade. Since you know how Japanese dealers are like, a test drive before purchase would have helped.
Good luck

You have not been very mature, nor articulate in this discussion. Suggestions have been made continuously and they are ignored by you. It's like you magically want a forum member to wave a wand and fix your car. Maybe it's a language barrier, but anyone who would dump a brand new $100k (US) car because of a garbage free app does not have a rational decision making process.
I hate to say it, but I'm calling troll at this point.
That's all I have to offer, checking out...
