I think I got a pretty decent price only because of Mercedes Winter Event with the extra 4k off. My 2010 W221 White/Black S550 is barely worth anything these days. Never financing one of these ever again.
Really wished I had the HUD this time around. I'll try to shoot for it on the next s550.
Are S Classes being sold for this discount one year after launch?
Range Rovers are still at FIRM MSRP or higher - 3 years into the model run of the new body shape. L405.
I think it is a great deal. I wished my deal a year ago was as great--but hey that is the difference of an "early adopter" of a new model.
Hopefully for MB this does not turn into what happened just after I bought my 2008 S550 4matic in 2008. Tons of S Class cars came into the US with them piling up at the VPCs--at least on the east coast in Baltimore this happened. Doubt this will happen with a new model. But I am sure MB is weighting all this in any event.
It appears from my unscientific look at dealer lots and inventory, the S Class is not selling as quickly as MB would like here in the US. Lots of dealers have the same inventory on their lots for months. A year ago dealers could not get enough cars. It now appears dealers certainly can get cars. So that all plays into the deals. This is all unscientific of course.
You can't simply go by what you see at dealer lots. Dealers don't stock cars that they can't move either. It goes both ways. The real proof is in the sales numbers and the S is selling at the same level as in 2007 before the crash. There is absolutely nothing that suggest that it isn't and December is the big push month so every dealer has plenty of them to sell this month. The S has been an overwhelming hit here in the U.S.

I hear ya! Not sure I agree with you completely. Like I said--no scientific information or study. Just gut feelings since I have paid attention to inventory levels over the last 15 months and how many are selling compared to how many are being shipped to the US. It only APPEARS to me that MBUSA expected more sales than what is actually occurring. This certainly does not mean they are not selling but maybe not as much as anticipated. Frankly I hope they are selling and selling as anticipated to keep our values up but an awful lot of dealers have inventory they are trying to move with huge discounts only 12 months after a new model.
This also maybe different for different parts of the country. Apparently, the US West Coast MBUSA website advertises the $4000 cash incentive (per Lovin) whereas the US East Coast MBUSA website does not advertise the $4000 cash incentive.
And at the end of the day neither of us know except for MBUSA and Daimler in Germany. I just know I love my new '14 S550 4matic.
Congratulations, know that you will love the car. Percentage wise, very similar to the deal I got for my S550. Agree that you will miss the HUD. Thought I would not like it, but now really can't be without it.

I got a little over $10k off my 15 in September but there were no incentives at the time.
As far as the RR goes- we've talked about it- they are selling at msrp because they don't make any of them. They are relying on people who will wait for months to get one and pay full price...

Yeah i think it was a good deal which is why i jumped on it. I am sure the winter event helped tremendously. $4k is great for additional options.

Yeah there were absolutely NO INDICATION of 4k off or anything. Couldn't even find the ad for 4k winter event. I went in knowing about it and was determine to fight for it but they gave it without a hassle.

Will definitely miss the HUD. have it on a BMW and it's amazing. I was short on time this year so I wanted to get it in before the year end. Had to deal with one of their in stock vehicles. When it's time for the next one, I'll make it a must!

They almost tried to mark up the MF on my lease but I still got the promo rate at 0.0013 which is top tier so that's good. Couldn't do MSD due to the promo rate but whatever. Paid all the taxes and dealer fee upfront for 5k which a monthly payment for 1470$ including prepaid maintenance residualize which makes no sense but I'm not going to complain lol. Came out to about 600$ for prepaid 2 years. I paid 800$ for service in the beginning of the year for my W221 2010.
Quick mobile pictures and pictures of the old nice and sexy W221. Forgot to take other interior shots will update. The Exclusive nappa is exceptionally nice. I like the leather and contrast stitching on the steering wheel. Delivery miles was 14.

Sorry, but none of that is based on anything. Your gut feeling doesn't mean anything. Do you not understand that dealers stock cars to move them? Dealers don't stock cars that they can't sell. How do you know what MBUSA wanted to sell? You have an email or something with their stated goals or projections? Sorry, but you don't have anything here.
