How to enable the electrically heated windshield?

Has option 597 on window sticker, but can find no reference to the electrically heated windshield in the owners manual. It only describes the standard defroster. How is this function enabled? Anyone else on here with 597?

I'd think by activating rear window defroster

The front windshield heater is automatically activated when you put on the front defroster. There is no separate switch.

See last item on attachment below from page 163 of Owners Manual.

LovingMercedes: Saw that, but it doesn't specifically mention the electric heater and I don't see any wires in the glass. Saw on another thread they are nearly invisible and you have to look through the IR window to see them. My Range Rover has a clearly marked button to turn it on, so I sort of expected that. Thanks for the info.

hyperion667: GFY. Your wheels look like clown shoes.

I have to wait for my daughter to fall asleep first....but that is a high priority today, and thanx for the compliment on that wheel color: I also meant zero disrespect in my comment, that saying is an old favorite around here but I can't think of how you could have known that being that you're freshly arrived in our world here: welcome nonetheless

For this year, MB introduced a new technology for heating the front windshield. It does not have any wires.

I went through this with Montvale and Germany when I ordered my heated windshield, because if I could see wires, I would not have ordered this option.

Not exactly sure how the technology works, and in California, I may never get a chance to find out.

I know this is an old thread. Today i tried my heated windshield, not sure worked. Front defroster in which per the manual should have done it. I saw no difference with the de-icing than any other car, I.e. seems to start when engine warmed and where air was hitting it, i was hoping for General all around defrosting/deicing. 2016,CPO with the option. I saw on the car fax the windshield was repaired before (not replaced). Hoping just a fuse. It does show a sheen and there’s a missing block where EZ pass should go, so I feel comfortable it’s the correct windshield ( plus heads up is fine). Any thoughts or experience? Thanks!
