Does the S550 give automatic reminders to get oil-changes and other simple maintainence? Or do I need to track those items myself?

Also do you guys go back to the dealer to do oil changes? Or can I take it to a local Jiffy Lube type place? How much do the oil changes run?

Yes, reminders for service is given.

I personally do oil changes myself... Not so sure I'd take it to Jiffy Lube... If anything, I'd find a local independent MB shop...

The dealer cost for service "A" which is essentially an oil change varies considerably across the country. In Southern California, I have paid as little as $110, usually about $150 at dealers and this includes a loan car. This is because there are lots of dealers who are in competition here. Keep in mind that your vehicle uses synthetic oil and a special fleece oil filter. The cost for the oil and filter can easily be over $80. Anyone who says they will do the job for less than this can not be using proper type of oil or filter.

The dealer cost in other parts of the country can easily be double or more.
