I love this color. I live also in avery sunny area and I love the color of S class in Ruby black.

I live in Saudi Arabia, very hot and sunny almost all year round. My car's picture was taken few months back in front of my house on the east coast of Saudi.

thanks all for your comments (sorry some of the pics are blurry). I do not see many S types here in Phoenix Az let alone any in Ruby-Black. I would think it would be more popular but I had to order my car to get what I wanted.

When I saw Ruby Black in person, it seemed more purple brown to me.

 

Could be the effect of the artificial lighting.

 

Any more Ruby Black photos? I adore this color but none of the dealerships near me have one to look at IRL.

I've seen a few of the Ruby Black cars, both at dealerships and on the street. I think it's an interesting color, but poorly named, as I have never seen a "RED" tinge to it. It always looks like a rust, orange or brown. Maybe call it something like "Tahitian Black" or something a bit more exotic than simply "Ruby Black."

 

I find the color of my car to vary with the lighting conditions. Even an overcast sky vs brilliant sunshine can make it look different. Also whether it's clean or not can also make a big difference.


If I had to describe the predominant color I would have to characterize it as a deep burgundy.

Finally after my 2014 S550 4matic was totaled by my insurance company and ordering my 2016 S550 4matic, I picked up my 2016 S550 4matic in Ruby Black today. Pictures do not do justice to this color. Ruby Black in person is absolutely stunning! Absolutely stunning! If one is considering this color you must see it in person since most pictures on the internet do not come close to the color in "real life".

 

I love mine. Lots of comments from people. I was afraid it was going to be purple or something that would attract the wrong kind of attention. But very subtle. Looks black in many situations. I agree that deep burgundy describes it. But I see copper or brown in other lights. I got the porcelain/black interior and it looks great.
