![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
New MB's beginning with the W222 have a new variation of MB's ventilated seats; the fans first begin to pull the hot air away from your body then reverse direction and blow cooled air up to it. My question is how well are they working? Do they actually get cool (when AC is on) and are they working better than the previous version (which unfortunately did not do much)?
Thanks
Thanks

PS I had no problem with the ventilated seats on my previous W221, so I can only assume the W222 will work the same or better!

Due to the crappy NYC weather I have been wearing a jacket since I got the car in Feb. I use the ventilated seats all of the time and I noticed they work fine. I hope this summer when it's hot and sticky I will be cool and dry ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I live in Phoenix Arizona and the seats are ok. They do ventilate and move the air so I am not sweaty but they do not cool - just move air. They do seem better than the ones in my 221.

Give this a try: Put the AC on bi-level and close the center vents about half way. Once the seat fans reverse to push, rather than pull air it should take cooled air coming to the floor up to the seating surface. Let me know if this helps.

My cooling seats in my w221 and w222 work the same. They essentially do nothing. This of course is compared to a Cadillac I recently rented when I was out of town. The Caddy blows air out of the seats like crazy while the MBs do nothing. Of course, years ago, the my local dealer told me the MB ventilated seats are not designed to blow like crazy. But from my standpoint the MB ventilation system has a lot to be desired.

The ventilated seats in the W222 work noticeably better then in other MB model, but they are ventilated, not cooled.
This may just be a mismatch in expectations. Making the switch LED's in blue (aka cold) doesn't help either...

In warm weather mine works pretty well! If the ambient temperature of the cabin is kept cool, then the seats keep you cool and dry. To improve the system, Mercedes should have the seats piped from the climate control system. When it is cold out, turning on the seat heater plus the ventilation gets you warm and toasty pretty quick.

Some on the E/AMG forum swapped the fans for more efficient one's and reversed their placement (to blow air up through the perforations vs. pulled through). When the climate control is set to bi-level the fans actually pull cold air from the floor vents up through the seat perforations.
We have two cars that have very effective seat venting/cooling; a Jag which has a Peltier thermo electric cooling/heating units; they're rather ingenious as reversing the current rapidly changes the temp from cold to hot or vice versa. We reside in S FL and my black Jag's seats will get icy cold even in the hottest days ahhhhh
. The other car is a Caddy, it has ventilated seats which also work extremely well as the fans are very efficient and work by blowing air up through the seat perforations.
I was hoping the new reversible fans in the 222 would do the trick stock, and they easily could. I'd bet if the fans were uprated to more powerful/efficient units, the seats would cool down right along with the climate control when set to bi-level. Everyone that experiences seats that truly cool, seem to love them from my personal experience. BTW, the fans are very inexpensive according to the E-AMG'ers.
