S600 Maybach - PRE-SAFE with pedestrian recognition Problems

Knowing that this model is limited but the Pre Safe system is not I wanted to post a question to find out if anyone has had similar issues. The car is brand new and our experience has been that while driving in NYC streets the system will kick on and abruptly stop the car. There is no pedestrian or other car near the S600. The system will just stop the car without any apparent reason.

The car has been at the dealer for the past week while dealer works with MBUSA to diagnose problem. Car's computer has no codes, sensors were cleaned by dealer. It has happened to the car several times with 2 different drivers.

At this point we find this system to be a hazard and we are asking MB to disable permanently as the car is ironically unsafe due to this feature.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this Driver's Assistance feature on their S Class? I searched the forum and found where the system has failed and put car on limp mode but nothing similar to our experience.

Thanks.

Also in NYC

I have not had any false positives with ours, the few times it went off it worked as designed (there was something in front)

If you want to keep the car and show the dealer, get a dashcam or GoPro if its indeed happening that often, record a few and send to the dealer

I don't have the drivers assistance package (on my ml), but I do have the pre-safe function where if it thinks a collision is imminent and I apply the brakes it it will come to a halt. At first since I too live in NYC thought there was a problem with the car, but haven't brought it in it could be because it probably is because there are so many moving people, cars, bikes, and busses in the city. I too agree that it is a hazard and needs to be fixed because I always hear a sharp ding sound when it thinks I am going to collide, but I clearly wasn't going to collide. I will give it credit that once I wasn't paying attention and it did avoid a collision, but once versus the hundreds of times that it hasn't worked.

Nothing like this happened on my S600 yet. But I'm in less dense traffic down in FL.
