Just a few comparison pics lurking the net.

Spare tire

One of the more interesting news of the new 7 series is that the car now has an optional spare tire (space saving) while of course offering nothing but Run Flats.

Not a bad idea and also a recognition that run flat can be damaged in ways that will leave you stranded, no matter what.

Good news for BMW drivers...

Read this BMW press release on the new 7 series. Sounds very intriguing on many levels.

It's like the Samsung Galaxy of cars, better tech and features but just isn't aesthetically pleasing or put together like the iPhone

I can't stand that "clown" steering wheel in S-Class.
Why the hell it's standard in S63/65 sedan in Europe but not available here?
Had a rental 2015 S63 in LA and after driving this otherwise magnificent car, hated that stupid wheel even more.

Isn't the 3 spoke wheel standard now? I know it wasn't in 14 models, but every AMG Line '15 car I see has the 3 spoke.

The 3-spoke steering wheel was not available in the 14 and 15 sedan model years, but will be standard on the S63 and S65 for 2016. It will not be available on the S550.

In Europe the 3 spoke steering wheel is default if the sport package on the S500 is chosen. While the AMG line package is slightly different than the U.S. Sport package, they could have easily done the same here. This would be a nice, additional differentiator to the standard S.

Yes, I too was hoping it would be the same as in Europe, but it didn't happen.

Now this I agree with but I'm trying to accept it.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that the vehicle was priced at a lower price compared to European Countries. A way to get it would be to buy the steering wheel, but if genuine it would go above $2,000 unless you find a fantastic deal. The dealership told me Ł1-2,000 for the steering wheel alone. I keep looking on eBay, but hopefully I should get a 3 spoke soon.

That may depend on the country but in Germany, the AMG LIne is actually cheaper than in the U.S., given the weak Euro and that the prices include the 19% VAT.

I really hope this is true, Lovin. You seem to get better information than I do (or the guys I talk to at the MB dealership). The last update I received, my rep claimed no changes for MY16 and that I could add the wheel after I ordered (and the car was delivered). I'm hoping I don't have to do that now.

Has anyone seen the 2016 S63/S65 DOG? The 2015 S AMG guide was out by this time last year and I'm hoping that will shed some more light on the changes.

The DOG's are not out yet, so it is not surprising you were told this.

If you are getting a 2016 S63 or S65 sedan, you will be getting the 3-spoke wheel.

Just saw this for the 2016. Still, you can get into one for about $20k less than the S if someone wanted.

"Two gasoline-powered models are headed to the United States this fall: the 740i, which starts at $81,300 and is powered by BMW’s 320 hp, 3.0-liter, turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, and the all-wheel-drive 750i xDrive, priced at $97,400. - See more at: http://robbreport.com/automobiles/20....k4OJ42Rj.dpuf

Somewhat annoying YouTube video, but BMW does a very nice job with it's Individual interiors.

Yikes that 7 series looks strange.

Who came up with that hockey stick across the rocker panel? Hideous.

It's like they ran out of ideas on how to make any real improvements and started tacking on silly decorations. Mercedes really has done a great job with their exterior car designs. They look elegant and modern without looking like a stodgy BMW trying to compensate.

You do realize what they are really advertising is that the 7 series is a great car to sleep in right?

They used to sell the Ultimate *driving* machine
