a couple minor questions

i have the exclusive nappa leather in crystal grey-seashell and have the compartments (as shown in my nightclub purple photo above - sorry for the dark photo; the car was in my garage when i took it and wanted to get you the shot quickly). i have the power rear seats but my belts do not have contrast stitching - they're all just light grey like the seats. i am going to the dealer on wednesday to get a tyre replaced (big bubble) so i will ask about the compartment differences unless someone gets you an answer beforehand.

Exclusive nappa seats here.
Also, the contrast stitching on the seatbelt should just indicate that they are Airbag belts...

It clearly looks like a wrong built.
That storage compartment doesn't appear to be an optional accessory for lower-end models (outside the US), so the only reason why the blank cover may exist is for the fire extinguisher option in Europe.
The fire extinguisher is always installed on the lower front of the driver seat.
Just a theory though. Simply contact the dealer and have them order and install the compartments for free...

Also, my rear outboard seat belts have the contrasting stitching, but that's due to the belt bag.

I would contact the dealer for an explanation...
If anyone is concerned though, these can be installed in minutes (not a major install job)

SA got back to me and mentioned that it did come on the 2014 models before. He checked all of the in stock S Classes and they all don't have the storage compartment. I guess these are one of those unmentioned equipment changes.
So does anybody know the part number for the storage compartments? I'd like to get it installed. I looked through the S Class accessory brochures, and there's no mention of the storage compartment.

Thanks to a certain user here who PM'ed me asking for my VIN and looked up my car's EPC & build sheet in the Mercedes system. The parts sheet came back specific to my car, and it shows that I should have the storage compartments!!! The user told me to have the dealership speak to their Mercedes Rep to get it installed. I've already forwarded all this information to my sales advisor. It is part #200 in the diagram below.

The left & right storage compartments look to be the same, and relatively easy to retrofit. The part numbers differ based on color and if you have a memory package or not:
Best of luck to everyone speaking to their dealership to retrofit the storage compartments! And to those who are just going to purchase the parts and install it themselves, please report back!

Perhaps so. My service dealer claims S Classes no longer come with the underseat storage bins. My production date was March 26, 2015.

I hope this is not true since those storage compartments were handy on my '08 and '14 S550. I will find out in September as my new '16 S550 arrives then.

I visited 2 dealerships since posting here, saw about 10 S550s and 3 AMGs, none had these storage compartments

With your research sure seems like you confirmed it. Yes I will be disappointed but since my '14 s550 4matic was totaled in an accident I will have to live with the '16 not having the compartments.

They must have changed it during the 2015 model year.
That said, these compartments feel smaller than in prior models. I just have a microfiber in there, along with a SureFire flashlight.
Our SL has an umbrella storage compartment in the driver door and while the S-Class doesn't have that it feels that a small umbrella would fit into that same area as well (underneath the back of the armrest)

Update: So the parts guy is adamant my car doesn't come with it and won't proceed any further. The parts guy is totally BS'ing me when he says you have the change the whole seat base, yada yada.
Does anyone have the install guide/bulletin for this specific part? Because it looks like all you have to do is buy the part and screw it in.
Also, for those of you who have the compartment... can you check to see how the part is installed? And compare is against my picture I've posted.

My 2015 s550 coupe doesn't have the bins either. Looks like they should be there But I had those on my w221 s class. But I don't miss them. Never used them and they always popped open

I never used mine in the 221 so I don't care but it is interesting nonetheless. And as was noted earlier--they did pop open which was a minor annoyance.
I wonder if there are any other minor changes that happened that we don't know about.

I'm guessing. Maybe it was a supplier problem/shortage and they just built with out them. But you can clearly see where they would have fit right in under my seats. Salesmen/Mercedes techs etc no help. They really are clueless on most features/build specs. I've had to explain to my salesman how certain things work. But I guess now that Mercedes sells so many different models it's impossible for them to know everything. When I got my first s class in 2001. There was basically only s class e class c class sl and m class

I had to replace a broken one in our W220 a long time ago and the mounting bracket looked the same.
Took only 10 minutes then...
