Purchase a demo now or wait for new?

Hi, a local dealer is selling a demo '15 S-550 with 8,000 miles and list price of $115,000. Asking $102,000.

Any advice on purchasing a demo now, compared to waiting for a new 2015 when the 2016's come out? I would assume Mercedes will be offering more incentives in September, but was wondering what should be my best "reasonable" price for a demo. now?

Are there differences in financing on a new car vs a car with miles?

Thanks

I would recommend against any demo car. My '08 was a demo when I got it with 5K miles...it had quite a few problems from 5K-20K miles. Remember that the salespeople/managers that have driven the car don't own it, so they don't drive it carefully. It's like a lease - I'm not going to keep the car, so I can drive it rough without caring about what happens later... However, I would expect the demo with 15K miles to be closer to 94-95K.

You should be able to do a very similar deal (102-103K) on a leftover 2015 with 0 miles. With 2016's coming, you should expect smaller discounts on the new models. I think it's best to wait for the '16s to arrive and ****** a leftover 2015 with the latest production date at a good deal. Look at True Car to see the deals people are getting on new cars. Good luck!

For comparison, I found a "still on the boat" new '15 S550 4matic configured exactly like I wanted with only 1 minor change and MSRP of $117,920. I paid $104,900 and the only miles were the port to dealer (8). Bottom line, areas are different, but an 8k mile demo seems priced too high.

8k is well-used especially here, they racked up those miles in what 6 months?

Buy new, but if you want this 'demo' I'd aim for at least 18-20% off MSRP

This is '15 model new car pricing.
Demos are typically badly mistreated cars. In that price range you want a pristine car.

I agree Buy new. And from what I hear they are discounting the 15s heavily right now. Be careful about trying to snap up a leftover 15 with the latest build date when the 16s come out. In my experience while there may be an oversupply of 15s right now, as soon as the 16s cone to market the 15s are gone like magic. It's like they shipped them off somewhere as soon as the 16s hit

think about how many times they gunned it; slammed on brakes......demonstrating other features of the car, I'd say 8K is a lot of miles
