cannot decide on tint

Took this pic today as the light was hitting it just right, and with the sunshade in the front, makes the windows look really dark........got me thinking how I like that look, but not having windows so dark that driving during black time would suck and even dangerous........
do you dudes with tinted windows have to open them at night time for better sight?

the outward view is really not affected to the degree as the inward view is if that makes sense. in other words, you can see out unencumbered but can't really see in too well. i use 35% suntek tint on my m4 and it does a good job of providing the stealthy look im going for, but you can still see inside - but like just to tell there is someone in there - can't really make out who, for example. i have it everywhere except the front windscreen. here is before and after, just for yuks.

(and, no, you don't have to roll-down the windows at night to see. lol.)

Here in intense sunny central florida having tint is almost a requirement.

Besides the Florida factor we also have the tint for migraine/medical reasons (and have a Rx that we carry for that in case we are stopped for having a darker tint than is allowed under state law).

I do find that it does make it slightly more challenging to see at night and in some busier situations will roll down a window, especially when pulling out onto a busy road. This will vary depending on the lighting conditions and risk of pedestrian/bike traffic (who will not have headlights or safety lighting to make themselves more visible).

I had the darkest legal tint on my 2009 E320 here in South Florida. On a dark & rainy night it's awful. Night time isn't much fun either.

Other than cosmetic looks, it doesn't do much more than that.

Having the 2014 S550 now, I use my electric shades which does a better job against the sun than my tinted windows in the past has done. At night, I just lower them.

Tinted windows do look great in the daytime but darkness becomes our pillow once more.

Use newer ceramics

From inside out, you barely notice a difference but still get awesome heat rejection plus visible 'darker' look when looking from the outside in

yes, this is what I don't want....to not be able to see at night wouldn't be cool

hype -- i know this is one for the "duh!" file -- but if you're worried about not being able to see at night - go for a lighter tint than our mates down in florida are discussing above. most states have limits on how dark you can go (southern states obviously are more liberal with their limits than northern states); as such, there are all kinds of options as to how light/dark you can go. and as i say in my post ^ i have no probs seeing at night with 35%. ok. enough. i know. just trying to be helpful.

Two words huper optik!

huper optik is a high quality tint. You can only use it on the side windows and not the rear window. For the rear window just use a nano tint. This is because of the materials in the huper optik. Huper optik is not as dark but its highly reflective from the outside only. This allow the sun to reflect and keeps the car so much cooler where nano just concentrates the heat at the window. Here in AZ with 115+ F weather this is a requirement of any nice car.

With the high reflectiveness is make the car look so nice. Have a look on google. It makes such a big difference on heat. Also it makes night driving easy.

I got 3m Crystaline 40 all around on all my cars. It blocks UV/IR like no other tint I've had. No more having to put my sunglasses in front of the A/C vents before puting them on.

S550 Windo Tinit

Hey what percent tint do you have on your S550? I had 15% installed but I hate the mirror tint look. I like how yours is black. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

I believe the tint is 30% and is one of the 3M products.

Thanks! I’ll look into 3M. Does yours have the all black (non mirror tint look) in the daylight also?

I think that's the perfect fit for tinting
