Can the LCD display DVD movies in full screen mode?
The manual seem to say so (DVD full screen mode), but I can't get the screen to show more than shown in the pic below.
I don't think I will watch movies in the car, but if, I would like it full screen. The BMW had a zoom function.
Tried all options, but nothing worked. Am I missing something?
But at the COMAND aspect ratio you would either lose part of the view or the video would get badly distorted if it filled the complete screen.
I guess "full screen" here means "as big a screen area you can have while maintaining the 16:9 aspect ratio"?
That could be true but would be lame. As shown, the old BMW already did that. Most DVD's are not 16:9 anyway, but in a 2.35 aspect ratio and anamorphic.
That said, Mercedes has always been 10 years behind when it comes to Internet/Entertainment/Navigation.
We never have anyone in the back of the car but I feel sorry for people with a rear entertainment system that are missing even the most common content choices.
No movie streaming (Netflix, HBO, etc.), no Bluray, not digital AV inputs, no Airplay...

As far as I know there is no any other car that support netfix or video streaming services, blu ray I guess the only car which supports it is the Lexus LS.
The S-Class has got av inputs in the front and rear console next to USB ports.

I know the new 7 series will stream Netflix natively and I heard of Audi doing the same. Need to confirm the Audi info though.
That said, the S-Class uses analog AV inputs (aka 1980's tech). Who even uses analog inputs anymore? Using HDMI inputs would be a no-brainer apart from wireless Airplay which is built into any iPad or $69 Apple TV.

That's true,I wish they have used HDMI instead of AV inputs because I don't see any point of using AV inputs in 2015 as most devices are using HDMI and it's not that costly to be implemented.
I have seen HDMI ports in a Bentley flying spur.
To be honest the S-Class is an amazing car but there is some shortage when we talk about software, I was really shocked when I tried the web browser for the first time,it's really slow and I can say it's nearly unusable which something I can't even think that Mercedes engineers didn't notice or can't solve.
Btw,BMW iDrive can be updated by downloading the software from their website to a thumb drive but Mercedes command can be updated only through the dealer.
And why they didn't add the touch capability to the command system? for the driver safety? OK what about the rear entertainment system?

Overall,Again it's an amazing car.
Glad they didn't do touch screens. Idiotic idea IMO for Nav/Entertainment screens.
Most people can't even reach the screen without bending forward at which point you have less control over the car. Plus you take your eyes off the road and the screen will look like crap.
I didn't know people actually used the "Video" setting in COMAND. Why would you if you have a computer/iPad/iPhone/other smart device?
Why would anyone ever buy a rear entertainment system? Same thing...
Quite frankly I couldn't care less either (stated before) as I want Carplay in the car so that I can push whichever content to the screen. But once that is possible, I want the full screen for viewing, not just 2/3 of it.
