Collision Prevention
Just got my computer back after a crash. I have searched and do not find the answer I need - has anyone set up a situation to see how the collision prevention works. I was thinking of putting a dummy in the road ahead of me and driving toward it about 30 miles an hour to see what happens? Anyone tried any thing like that?Michael in Arizona

Very few people will have the intestinal fortitude to put these systems to the "test" in a live situation.
I have experienced both an autonomous brake event to stopped traffic in front (early in the morning - not awake :-) ), and a moron who decided to walk in front of my car. It is noy a pleasant feeling as all the other PRE-SAFE systems engage such as the emergency tensioning retractors in the seat belts.
My recommendation if you feel you must "test" the system, try it with something soft. With that said the object must have the same signature of the actual thing (i.e.: person or car).

Well a bit disappointed. I taped my blow up doll to a 2x4 and nailed that to a large flat board. got going about 24 miles/hour and hit the doll. The brakes did engage but not strong enough, I kept going about 2-3 foot (would have broken their legs). At 30mph I hit the doll and the brakes engaged but I still hit the doll hard enough to knock the doll into the air and shatter the 2x4 with pieces flying. My doll may have been a bit to small. While it is 5 ft tall about 1/2 the height is made up a very skinny legs. If I can find a larger doll or manikin I may try again. It is VERY hard to hit something and not also hit your brakes !

Here is a link for the video. Should start somewhere around 9:50. https://mbworld.org/articles/motor-t...s65-amg-coupe/
Also, Collision Prevention works a bit different than Pre-Safe Brake with Distrionic Plus

The point is that any test with a plastic doll, filled with air, will not be seen at all by the radars. The doll should be covered with a metal film or something else that makes it look like a real person. For the stereo cameras it should not make any difference if the doll was made of plastic and filled with air.
Anyone studied which sensor has the main role for each scenario?
