Quick question on climate control

I traded in my 2007 s550 for a CPO recently and have a question on the climate control switches.

When the climate control is on "auto", the rocker switches that control the climate control have the red LED on. When I press either switch (driver or passenger), shouldn't the LED go out, and the climate control switch to OFF? Mine do nothing. However, when I turn the climate control OFF using Command, then the switches will turn climate control ON.

Is this normal?

Thanks for your help.

MM

Yes I believe this is normal. My '14 S550 and '16 S550 both work this way. In order to take it off "auto" on either the driver or passenger side, you need to change the temperature with the up or down switches (if you are trying to use the switches vs Comand).

Thanks for the quick reply.

The temperature up and down does not take it off of auto - just changes the temperature. I am assuming you mean adjusting the fan speed up or down.

I could have sworn that on my 2007, the "auto" switch worked both ways - turning automatic climate control on or off. These just just turn them on (if off).

You are correct on the issue of the temperature button (my mistake). It is the fan speed that takes it off auto.
