New standard Rims?

Has anyone gone to the MB site and noticed that they have changed the default 18 inch rims on the S550? They look so much better IMO now. Share your thoughts.

Odd they would change something mid-model year. I wonder if they had a lot of complaints?

The wheels were changed for all of 2016 and were not a mid-year change. The standard wheels on the '14 and '15 were not received well based on discussions I had with my local dealer. There was a note (I think it was in the early 2016 Dealer Order Guide) that there may be a supply shortage of the new 2016 standard wheels and they MAY use the '14 and '15 standard wheels on the '16 if there is a supply shortage.

Thanks for the information.

wonder what tire size they take.....I have two sets of 18's but not sure if they're strong enough? I was told weight of the car was an issue....

much improved, the older style 18" wheel looked terrible IMO, like a cheap stamped wheel used for a spare, lol

I have the standard 18" rims on my 2015 and agree they are ugly. It was just too much to buy new rims when I received my car. I do like the standard 2016's quite a bit.

I have the 18's on my 2015. I'm not thrilled with them, but I must say that I like them a lot more than the new ones. One of my favorite wheels, was the simple, all silver, 5 spoke, 18's on the 2013 S550.

If you go to the MBUSA.com site you can click on vehicle models, build an S class and then see the new standard rims.

Yes, I agree. I think we just want to see some nice real high quality images and not some CGI.
