Where to mount the Passport 9500 or Beltronics STIR display?
Hi Members:
I purchased a radar detector and arranged to have the display mounted in the mirror. I did not know that the installation company would switch the glass so that I no longer have auto dimming.
If I'm willing to send my mirror away and pay $500 plus shipping I can have an auto dimming mirror and the mirror mounted display but I'm not comfortable with sending my mirror away and not willing to spend the $500 plus shipping.
1. Does anyone know where I can buy just the mirror?
2. Does anyone have any suggestions about where to place the display so that it blends in with the rest of the car? I'm thinking about mounting it right on top of the rear view mirror but I would welcome anyone's suggestions.

I installed the Bel STiR+ on my last bmw, the installer shot this video:
They were willing to modify the mirror so the display unit could be mounted inside the mirror housing, however since it was a lease I wanted something I could undo at lease end. This setup worked really well, no visible wires, super clean.
It may be difficult to see in the video but they fabricated a housing for the display, which matched the plastic on the mirror.
