Perhaps they're adding an additional year to both sides of the facelift.

You see it, like it, buy it. If not, you don't...
If they did nothing more than add that Rear Cross Traffic Alert system, (what IS the official name of that feature???) that would be enough for me to make the change. That said, the mid cycle refresh designs of previous S Class models have always looked better to me than the original designs. Sometimes I think the factory comes up with the perfect design initially and then downgrades it a bit for the initial roll out, saving the "perfect" iteration for the refresh.

I highly doubt this, but one never knows.

Any word on when the U.S. S550 will get the 9G trans? That seems to be the one thing missing. The S550 Cabriolet will have it when it arrives this Spring.

It is a mystery to be sure since the S-Class isn't even built with a 7G anymore (besides for the US).
I can only imagine that the 9G is held back for the US until the MY17 comes out so MB doesn't get into a marketing mess or have customers angry about driving a MY16 7G car when there are MY16 9G's out there...

Either way, this is an artificial delay...
