First time poster, long time lurker (and what a great resource this site has been over the years!).

I've got a 2001 S500 w/ 140K miles that I've had forever. It still runs great, but I want to replace it. I need help evaluating a few options...

For the same price (under $70K) and mileage (under 40K), I could have either a 2012 S65 AMG or a 2014 S550. Also under consideration is a 2012/13 S550 AWD for low/mid $40Ks. Performance and operating costs aside (I'll save that for another thread), what are the major must-have changes if any that were implemented on the W222?

The W221 S65 is tricked out on the interior and has NightView, Distronic and other goodies, so I'm comparing that to a comparably equipped 2014 S550 (granted without the same level of finishes). I'm thinking in terms of features and functionality (phone connectivity... Samsung S7, media integration, map updates, autonomous driving features and such).

Which would you rather drive for the next 10 years?

I don't really have the time to discuss it right now but I would by far choose the 222. Between my non AMG 221 and non AMG 222, there are major differences. It may be different for you, but the technology including things like Distronic Plus are far improved. It may not be the same case for you, so just test drive both and see what you think.

Take a long test drive ( or multiple ) in both, and saturate yourself in YouTube videos on both vehicles. There is a ton of free information...
