2015 S 550
Keyless Entry Glitch

I lease a 2015 S550 and I've had ongoing issues with my keyless entry. Most times walking up the car I have to dig deep into my pockets and actually unlock my car. Well I have the executive seat package and often times ride in the back. The car has a glitch where the backdoor opens with keyless entry but the alarm is sounded. I've taken it to the dealer 3-4 times (mentioned it everytime my tire or wheel popped). Each time they said they cleared the system errors and changed the batteries.

I just noticed that keyless entry to the back glitch can be triggered when the car is like 50 feet away. Yesterday I took my wife's car after my S class had a bubble on its tire. I got home from work and forgot my laptop in the back of her car. My instincts took me to my car and my backdoor opened and the alarm sounded. My key was in the master bedroom 60 feet away on the opposite side of the house.

My brother has a 2016 and doesn't have this issue. I'm concerned with this glitch and called MBUSA. What type of remedies do you think I could ask for? I don't think this problem could be solved.

Clearing errors and changing battered won't do anything. Konigstiger has a great list of service bulletins compiled as a sticky.

This one here may be relevant:
Service Campaign 2015080005 SEPT15 – 2014-2016 222, 2015-2016 217 cannot unlock or start using Keyless-Go, dealer will update KG control module software. Approximately 31,837 vehicles affected.

Personally I would expect the dealer to do actual service work related to your concern; software update first, then check/replace hardware.

I have (unnecessarily) replaced the batteries too many times on my 2015 and I still look stupid standing at my car, waiting for my door to open. At least when I am sitting in the car and the keyless-go button doesn't work, nobody sees me, so it isn't quite so embarrassing. Afterall, for $125k, this stuff should work! Thanks for the valuable information!
