opinion on BUYING when lease terminates 2017

Can i request opinions from forum as i have great respect for collective wisdom[ in the past.]
I have a european delivery 2015 S with 45K miles lease due to expire in August 2017.However i turned 40K already.I have to buy the car or pay Mileage penalty.
I love the car, especially after a very bad reliability experence with PANAMERA.
Will MBNA re-lease it if i want or ask me to buy it?.
I dont want the new E.I prefer to wait for the next S,
thanks for your comments.

Jay,

Contractually speaking, you will either have to buy it or pay the mileage penalty. Now often, Mercedes will forgive some or all of the overage on miles if you re-lease a new mercedes.

Btw, I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with the Panamera. I just changed from a panamera to the S550 as well, but it wasn't due to reliability issues. I've had 2 different panameras in the past 3 years and they were both rock solid in terms of reliability. Maybe it was because it was the first year of the panamera ( I saw yours was a 2010). Don't know, but the panamera has consistently been one of the most reliable cars according to JD Powers...

dpm7471 is correct, Mileage overage can be easily negotiated away (not into the new lease).
In August 2017, the face lifted MY18 is out and you will not want to buy the old car. It's out of date at this time with a residual that doesn't reflect the actual (lower) value of the car.

Since the deals for a MY18 aren't very good at launch you could also consider extending the lease for a few months until you get close to year end for a much better lease deal...

So, I decided to wait until April 2017 to order my 2018 S550. My guy told me he would sell it to me for invoice minus holdback minus any incentives, but I assume no incentives will exist. So I will just be getting invoice minus holdback.

Should I also wait past launch?

Will a lease or a purchase likely make more sense?
i guess it is impossible to know this.
