As rumored 6's go inline (a good thing) and v8 will have cylinder deactivation....not so sure how I feel about that.

We can only hope that these new, very complicated components and systems have been vetted like no others in the history of the company, or we could be in for what BMW went through with their N63 engine disaster. Yes, even gigantic, legendary, German manufacturing companies can screw up in monstrous ways. Oh well, we shall see what we shall see!
Merry Christmas to all,

All that stuff sounds amazing--but also scary! My lease is up next year. I had planned it that way, so I could get the "face lifted" model. Now we find out that this will be way more than a face lift, with a brand new engine, electrical system, etc. As Jerry Seinfeld would say: "I anticipate messiness."

I have the new 9G trans in my '17 S-Coupe and it may need some reprogramming, as the 3-4 upshift under light throttle is sloppy and you can clearly feel the torque converter lock up right before you feel the shift at times. I don't understand why MB still cant get a transmission right. To be fair I only have about 350 miles so it could still be adapting, but Jag as an example uses an adaptive logic in the trans and it never had poor quality shifts even during the first 10-1000 miles. The other auto gear boxes in our new cars are flawless with near imperceptible shifts no matter the speed or acceleration rate. The new Q7 has an excellent 8 speed...it did have just 2-3 hard shifts which have all but disappeared now with about 1300 miles on the clock.

New engines are exciting for me but kinda rises concern too ,in terms of how these would perform than the ones they replace but I think these will become reliable too
