But, to each there own. That's why there are so many boxes to be checked and unchecked during the buying process.

As a wise man once said: That's why they don't paint all cars green.
Everyone should pick the car that's right for them. Enjoying the car is what matters

I prefer the exclusive nappa on this car myself as MTrauman stated; the leather quality is significantly better and makes a big difference (to me). So do the electronics, etc. The car just gets more expensive and MB will be happy to oblige...

That said the upgraded leather is clearly not ugly or ostentatious. If it would have been all black it would just be a higher-grade version of the same interior you have, that's all.

But keep in mind, you are the one asking the questions about the leather; so it seems to be important to you what is leather and what is not...

Again, these appear to match a interior code of the car, but do not define what that part is actually covered with.

I did check in with MB Germany and they confirmed the dash for the standard leather interior to be Artico (not leather)

Makes sense; even my nappa interior uses that material for dash and window sills... Those surfaces definitely "feel" different than seats/armrests in my car...

Just to clarify, these are where the leather is located:

Standard leather (no stitched pattern in between the two vertical stitches):
Leather: seats, centre armrests (front and rear), door armrests, the 'curve'/quarter round piece split be the wood trim continuing from the door armrests
MB-tex: dash, everything else on door panel, rear seat frame surround, rear parcel shelf trim

Nappa leather (horizontal stitched bars in between vertical stitches):
Nappa leather: replaces all surfaces covered in standard leather
MB-tex: same as before

Exclusive Nappa leather (diamond stitching in between vertical stitches, diamond perforations on the 'curve'/quarter round leather on doors and part of dash, contrast piping in between stitching)
Nappa leather: all surfaces previously covered by MB-tex and genuine leather
