This is the Mercedes slogan.
Now nothing means no CD player in the 2018 S class per the recently published dealer ordering guide. Does this mean that those that purchase the rear seat entertainment package will no longer be able to watch DVD movies?
Nothing also means no spare tire.
What further items will become nothing in the future.

I've never had a rear seat entertainment package, but is the CD drive in the dash used to play movies for that system? I would have thought there was a separate drive, no?Originally Posted by steveb9771

There is one in the Rear, and the Front can also play on the rear. Its located in between the two rear seats in the Pass through to the trunk, or that storage area.Originally Posted by Streamliner

CD's as a format is pretty much dead. Digital music is the thing. Same as run flats, hence, no spare. Originally Posted by steveb9771

Good or bad, this is the future. Did you moan when cassette players went away as well?
What else do you feel is missing?

Yes I did moan as my cassette player was removed from one of my S Class cars when I had replaced it with another S Class.
Guess I have been buying these cars for 25 years and the removal of the CD player is the natural progression--But I am glad I am not replacing my '16 S Class with an '18 because I would ***** and moan about the lack of the CD player in the front. On my '16 S Class I have the four place seating with the CD/DVD player in the back with the entertainment system. Hope the '18 does not remove that one since my family would not be too happy about that.

Atleast I did not say 8 track tape player since I remember when I had one of those in my car--although I was YOUNG at that time.
So I guess from your perspective I am VERY old!

i am 51. The sound from CDs is significantly better than the sound from songs downloaded to a phone. I have a BMW 750. I downloaded 400 CDs into the BMW Music Collection hard drive. Sounds much better than Apple Car Play sound.Originally Posted by Germancar1

Actually, if you had formatted the songs from a CD to your phone with a lossless format, you would have great sounding music, fwiw. Oh, I'm 59.Originally Posted by Rockland

You are joking, aren't you? i would hope at 51 years old, you would know at least one of the many ways to get your music onto your phone.
If you don't, I'd be happy to teach you.

Well, I just know how to download the cds into my mac computer and then connect my iphone through USB port and press the sync button. Is there a better way?Originally Posted by Socalsteve

But the music does sound better when I download the cds directly into the BMW 750 hard drive and play music through BMW Music Collection then when I listen to music on my iphone through Apple Car Play.
