Are you considering this kit for a W222? Seems to be intended for other MB models:

IMO, Mercedes has sub-standard rear entertainment tech in their cars.

I haven't seen if the 2018 S-Class has finally switched to HDMI-based wired connections or if they still use 1980's style analog tech as in MY14-17. Instead of any complicated setups I would just go for mounted iPads.

Easy to stream anything; it looks great, it's low cost and the tech and options are better than anything that MB offers.
Easy to swap and upgrade too.

Here is a link for a proper MB mount.

Gotta say I agree about MB being behind the times with rear seat entertainment options. Other vehicles have had things like HDMI, Blu-ray and 4G LTE options for quite some time.

Aside from 4G LTE, it looks like MB has finally added and HDMI input. Another member posted a video of an interior walkthrough of the 2018 S-Class. Here's the video (skip to 3:47 to see the port):

Granted, this is the Eurospec car but I'm assuming this will cross over the pond to the NA as well. Anyways, with HDMI and LTE, you can pretty use any streaming service, e.g. Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV, etc or even hook up your phone/tablet directly and have entertainment at your fingertips. Pretty cool, if a little belated.

My only wish now is that MB made certain things modular enough to upgrade components, like the 3G modem on pre-FL models. Grrr.....

Hi Wolfman:

Thanks for the link. This is just a third party bracket for the ipad, how about wiring the ipad and everything else?

Not sure what you mean. This is a Mercedes factory accessory, not 3rd party.

By default, iPads don't get wired. Just charge with lightning cable via USB or 120V outlet when needed.
